Came across this sales thread earlier guys.
I don’t know the ins and outs of what happened, but it seems like the seller recently bought the car, the engine began to knock shortly afterwards and the previous owner happily refunded him some cash back.

Are these cars really worth this sort of money these days?

Depends, for some maybe, but most wouldn't pay that amount of money. It is getting more common to ask quite a bit of money for these in standard or modified form. If people start paying the amounts asked, then yes I does seem they are worth the amounts getting asked for some.

If someone offers me 7-8k euros for mine I would sell it:p

11K with a potential expensive engine fix lmfao I think not
They are on the rise tho like all older Toyotas, Caldina for example. 04 N spec, I payed 5K, now on Ebay 2X 03 models at 9K so I've doubled up in 2years lol

There is some parts that would be worth good money if the car was broken for parts but I can't see them getting the asking price. I believe the car was up for 18K when the original owner had it up for sale.

I had a chat with a few other starlet people who were familiar with the car and apparently it was an all out 400bhp build that the previous owner had done by Tuning Developments.

My Ep82 GT in australia Is insured for 15k for just the chassis, With no engine. not currently including the strut bars and bracing
And once the engine is in, i am confident it will be appraised at around 20k to 22k Aud

Total current cost of the the car and all parts has hit 30 k Aud.

:update: chassis now insured for 17k. without engine.

Yeah I would expect a standard trim Starlet GT to be worth good money.

I'm not convinced on the old 18K modified I am entitled to money back because it's knocking scenario though.

The car is pushing 3x the original specified power output and you can't start asking for reliability at that point.
