Is it possible to tune the chip in a stock Toyota starlet ECU? is there anyone here who has ever done it?

in short, No
blitz, JAM, SARD, etc used to add an extra board to the stock ecu. This set up and specialized hardware/software aided in editing the stock ecu settings.

to edit the stock ecu settings, a piggyback may be used

but nowadays, with the price of full standalones being more affordable, this is also an option

when i read this line,,,i figured you were from Jamaica ...

with more direct plug and play, affordable piggyback/standalone choices available now via the competitive new/used markets, some persons will just save towards this and reduce the potential installation delays, modifications and/or extra parts that may be required to get something else running on the starlet platform

To each their own, i don't knock someone for trying something outside the box if you have the resources, expertise and will power...i've heard of the honda ecu being tried in the past in Jamaica; however, i don't know of the specifics to get it to work on a starlet

Yep, i am in jamaica... i am thinking about the speduino as an option.. i like to tinker with my stuff so if modding the stock ecu were possible I would definitely try that.
modifying a honda ECU is cheap.. u can get a honda ECU pretty cheap and then u just need to solder in some bits and pieces and get someone to tune it for u or u do it your self... usually cheaper than going after market

Yea the extra board in the Jams etc are called Daughter boards, basically a replacement board with different values for boost, fuel etc. Normally about 60 gram heavier than a standard ECU for all the nerds :)
Not sure I approve of the hondung shite being used but if it works for you then so be it lol :)

yea that's why i was inquiring if the stock starlet ECU can be modified in a similar fashion.. but too bad it cant..

I ran into this problem fairly quickly once i got my starlet. my first choice were piggyback ecu's like the emanage blue/ ultimate, but i could not find a plug in harness at the time, nor would anyone here tune it for me, so i bit the bullet and dumped 10k into a haltech setup, works great so long as you get someone reputable to wire it. It also had the unintended side effect of allowing me to bypass literally any wire related system, Completely avoiding hundreds of wires and sensors from future failure :)
