3 connector ECU

Hutch, to initialise the SAFC you select it from the menu then select 'yes'. You then have to switch off the ignition and back on again.
Then you have to go through and set the sensor type and throttle type (it's all in the instructions). Only then should you switch on the engine.

On another note, the reason you werent having any problems with the FCD before was because it was wired into the Oxygen sensor wire and not the Pressure Intake Manifold wire......basically it wouldnt have been doing anything.

Also, to clear the ECU error codes remove the EFI fuse for 30 seconds (or disconnect the battery)

I think the fcd was wired in properly mate, i was looking at the 2plug GT diagram when i told you it was wired in differently. battery is off now, gonna go out and try again in a bit.

when the safc initializes does it automatically prompt you for the info it needs? I did what you put above and when i turned it back on it didn't ask for anything?

it dosnt ask for anything mate you have to tell it! You have to go back into the 'etc' menu and set the sensor and throttle type after you've switched it back on.

Ok mate, sorry to be a pain in the arse but how do i find out all the info it needs? Would not initializing it properly make it not start?

Well leaving the battery off for an hour or so hasn't cleared the fault on the ECU. Looks like its gonna be a long process of elimination. :(

To the rescue!

Here's the EP91 wiring Diag i've made for SAFC+FCD installation:

Had a thought when I was laying awake at about 1 this morning. Does the green RPM signal wire going to pin3 connector1 replace the original wiring or should I splice into it?

Check your fuses, a wire could have touched, failing that make sure the plug is fully in, i had a similar problem with mine after adding wires

Result. I've took the FCD off and wired it back to standard. I'm boosting to 12psi so not hitting fuel cut. The question is, do i now put the FCD back on and test it again and if all is happy try to wire in the SAFC again or do i leave it for now? If i do wire in the SAFC does it have to go on the rollers straight away?

are u confident of doing it?

and yes u need to get it rr'd asap after fitting both.

dont just fit the fcd, it will make your car run very lean.

you must splice into all the wires on the diagram mate (except the PIM wire which you cut)

Thats probably what caused my problem then ben, I cut the RPM signal wire and connected the SAFC's RPM signal wire. You reckon that was the culprit?

:D winner! Although I've just been in my car and the engine light has come back on and its miss firing again but I know what the fault is. I'm gonna get that sorted and then leave the FCD and SAFC off till I can afford to get it set up on the rollers. Cheers for your help Ben (and everyone else!) I'll be bugging you again when i need to initialize the SAFC!

I thought FCD FPR and an uprated actuator was generally considered a safe and reliable set up? Obviously not gonna get the idea tune but be safe nonetheless.

:( Well as I'm running under fuel cut (12-13psi, its a bit hard to tell on my gauge) I should be ok right? FPR's set to about 2.5bar. Do i need to turn it up? How do you adjust the SARD FPR's?
