4efe or 4afe box + 4efte in a Corolla E11?

Same problem I had, it was the clutch master cylinder in my case and after swaping for a new one never happenned again, its been around 12 years since then. Many times if I stopped in a red light with my foot in the clutch pedal and first gear engaged waiting for the green it was like I was slowly releasing it and the car started to move, which turned to dangerous situations... You also say that in your case it gets worse after everything gets up to normal operating temperature, mine was also like that. Does not mean you don't have another problem or the gearbox is somehow really damaged, I'm just letting you know what my problem was at the time and how it was fixed. So make the best decision for you, this is my experience based on something very similar to what you say.
About the gearbox, if you want to buy another one I'm a bit suspicious on my opinion as I really love my C161, if I was to get a 5 speed one I would choose based on its price as you already know what yours was like and the abuse it took along the years. Is one stronger than the other? I don't know but it can also be something related to abuse or being worn... You also never know the state in which the turbo one will be and the refurbished at least guarantees you its good to run. Also you're a bit unlucky about the turbo gearbox as I had mine in my garage for the last 10 years, from when I imported my engine, never used it... Sold only its inside parts last month to a guy in Ireland which was having lots of problems with his gearbox so was cheaper to send. Still have the bellhousing for sale if you somehow need it.
Also in my opinion my gearbox has perfect gear ratio for the weight of the car and the engine arrogation. I spoke to thatCamp Dogs in Australia and they confirmed that the C150 gearbox is strong enough to hold 300 hp. When they swapped it with a C 50 to the gearbox exploded. I checked the gear ratio between the C 52 from the EP 82 that I would vibe and the C150. The only difference is the first gear that is actually longer on the Corolla. How can I be stronger if it’s a smaller radio on the C52? The guys in Australia adopted LSD plates to fit the C 150. That’s what I would do. I don’t wanna spend €750 for a Kkaz LSD.

Hope you make the best choice possible, sometimes is not easy to choose some stuff because there are so many people with different opinions, sometimes we just need to be lucky.

I very agree with you! I bought to C52. I have been speaking to this company about buying the LSD plates for my C150 gearbox. I was trying to understand if they are reliable or if they fuck up the gearbox after a while. So I will put on the turbo gearbox and fix mine with a probably upgrade for the LSD. What do you guys think? @Jay @RoyalDutchie

could you check to see if your clutch fork is keeping any noise?
a while ago the back of my clutch fork was dry and it made noise while driving...i had to end up trying to drop a little oil through the rubber boot at the top of the gearbox to lubricate the back of the fork where it pivots on the gearbox (metal/metal contact)

You mean those blocks with springs that sandwich between the current gears of your open diff?

Not a massive fan of those, but never had them, so can't really give an opinion how good or bad they are. Sure they should wear out the diff or get very unpredictable quickly?

Thank you for the suggestion. I could try that. The main noise is now are the knocking rotation noise on Ido that feels like something that is off his position and stops making noise when I push the clutch pedal.
The other noise is a higher pitch metal noise knock that happens when I accelerate and drop the pedal.
there is also another noise when I move the car and reverse gear with the wheels completely turned. It’s a lower knocking noise that seem to be the drive shaft spheres.
The question is how could it be possible that all these noises happened together. It all started with the lower knocking noise while I was getting outside the garage.
I also found an audio leak underneath the clutch slave pump. I cleaned it and after a few days I found oil again going down on the gearbox bell housing.
This whole thing made me spend money.
I bought a ep82 C52 gearbox, SKF drive shafts, genuine clutch release bearing, fork screw and rubber cap.
I could’ve bought the same C150 gearbox inspected for me for about €720. I bought the C 52 instead that was not inspected for 500 pounds plus shipment from the UK. Reading around and watching some videos I found out that the legend that the turbo gearbox is stronger isn’t true. The gearbox has problems with the third gear and it isn’t invincible. The C150 that’s basically the same gear rates besides the first gear and some people used it driving 300 bank horsepower. Never blew up. I would have never changed it if it wasn’t because I want to put a LSD in the future. There is no kit for the C1 50.

For what I’ve seen from the starlet guys in Australia it can hold more than 10,000 km without ruining the differential. It is something I wouldn’t do in my daily car. The advertise it for $35 but I found it for $350 and I would rather buy a plate KAAZ full LAD diff. These guys open gearbox is like I mixed two songs together
Here to do that job I would have to pay at least €700 to get a differential in. That’s why I bought a C52 and C150 manual to make sure I can do it myself with my partner. Obviously no way to find it in English. Only German. So I swapped my engine with two manuals, one in Russian and one in Japanese. Now I have the German manual for the gearbox. It’s never easy but we always handle it. So next week is going to be alarm work and upgrades. I have to say I would have preferred to get the turbo gearbox checked before installing it but it would’ve cost me too much. I’ll put it on and see if it works well hoping that gaskets hold.
