4efe or 4afe box + 4efte in a Corolla E11?

I thought we worked through the whole 'buying another car' thing a few pages back lol.
I know
I just answered my friend here that has his point but the costs will be too high to turbo charge my engine because it’s too old and...we’ve been through this already.

Regarding the intercooler pipes, I hear what you’re saying and I’ll work on the geometry of the pipes as soon as I get the engine swapped in the Corolla. The shop that is got to the cat the exhaust will definitely be happy to weld the intercooler pipes.

I would at least advise you to get a 4efte which has been rebuild by a reputable person. I can't help with this but it will save you in the long run. Getting one rebuild at your mechanic will set you back more for sure in parts and labor. A rebuild engine would ensure it can be dropped in without the higher risk of failure which comes with old unopened engines.

If an unopened engine is already going to set you back 3000 you'll be moving towards a swap which is going to cost you 4500+

I completely agree but unfortunately I don’t have the budget to spend extra €2000 for a rebuilt 4EFTE. TUNING DEVELOPMENTS sell it for €2350 but all the other parts are missing and I need the whole kit. The engine I am buying ran 88,000 km. I know the risk I am taking but I cannot buy the parts I need separately that will come with my purchase. Again I would but it’s hard to find them and I need something to start with. I hope you understand what I mean. If you have any idea or you know we shop that can give me the whole kit I will consider it immediately. Thank you

I do not know of any shops or persons selling complete rebuild engines with all the bits and bobs needed for the swap.

Just make sure to swap the rear end crank seal where the flywheel is installed before your mechanic swaps it in. They tend to leak on nearly every 4e engine. If you are getting the timing belt done also get the front crank seal replaced they are not to expensive and is easily done together with the timing belt.

Here I am with a crazy idea.

4efte swap matched to 4efe gearbox in a Corolla vs 4efte (my default project) or 3sgte swap matched to a 7afe 4WD gearbox/tranny. I found a rare Corolla 4WD that has been sold only on the Swiss and Australian market for 2000 euros ish. I spoke to a guy in Germany that owns a AE115 with 3sgte. He said that the tranny holds the torque even if it should be for 110 ps. The option is to buy a GT Four ST185 or ST 205 3sgte with AWD tranny and rear subframe.

What do you think about it?

Gt-four prices have went up well in the last few years in the UK, good luck getting something cheap that's not beat :)

Hate to be the guy that does the reality check but still..

The things putting you off the 4EFTE engine swap are multiplied (many times over) on a full 3SGTE engine and drivetrain swap.

Dont even start me on earlier rev2/3 3sgte,s lol

Frankie, just bolt a turbo kit to the rolla then worry about this :)

LOL I know...you’re right. But the feeling to drift like those Russian guys on Youtube is crazy! My mechanic found a ae115 for €1950 and a 3sgte for €2400. This engine in early can cost €9000. It’s without gearbox but it has a Turbo, ECU and Intercooler. 115k Km. Compression test is great. Do you think it would be a business to buy it and sell it for €4000/5000k? Let me know what you think.
P.S. i’m still focused on my main projects guys 1610144348248.png

Your nuts lol :)
What year is the gt-four, how many miles, service history etc, you say the compression is great so that's 1 big worry with them sorted.
The earlier st185 used a paper head gasket and the st205 used a metal gasket, rev 2/3 engines then when they brought out the st215 it was revised slightly again rev4/4.5 then the final rev5 in our st246.
:)

The engine is a ST205. Don't know the year.

so is the 4efe ac compressor same as 4efte ac compressor?
It isn’t. But the bolts should fit in the same place. I say should because I am about to do the swap and eventually will have to figure it out keeping my Corolla air conditioning. As soon as I will begin the thread every detail will be listed. So far I compared the two compressors and they are not the same but it should work.

Hi @Jay how are you? Long time!
I finally received 4EFTE engine. I was going through my threads to refresh the steps for the swap on the Corolla. I wanted to ask you a few things through the process.
First thing is the oil filter. Apparently it’s the same filter that the 4EFE uses. Do you confirm?
Do you suggest labeling the wires for the ECU, the fuse box etc. with numbers on both engines before swapping to make it easier to recognize them?

Hey Frankie, good to hear you are making progress.

Yes the filters are the same, its actually shared with a lot of the engines in the range - my Caldina even uses it (3SGTE).

Definitely label, mark and take as many images as you can as you go. My memory is terrible and photos of the simplest things have saved me on countless occasions.

Exactly my memory will not help me as well so I will go with labels and pictures.
I was just checking the Exedy clutch for the ep91. As I am keeping my 4EFE gearbox I was trying to find the proper clutch here in Italy and get it before Friday because we start Saturday. Can you suggest any OE from Ridex or Blueprint? I can’t wait two weeks for delivery from the UK. Thanks
