Hello all new hear. I searched for rear break conversions and can't seem to find anything or I'm not Putting in the correct information. I'm searching for a way to convert my 96 Toyota Tercel rear drum breaks to disk as I'm Having a hell of a time trying to find stock parts for the drums namely the sub assembly backing plate 47044 and 47043 and all google searches end in forums that have been dead since the mid 2000's. Could somebody point me in the right direction or know of a parts dealer to make this happen?

Welcome to TGTT :)

Whereabouts in the world are you?

First port of call with that would have been Tercel Online but looks like it's still nonfunctional, I miss that site and it had a thread with really good info on the disc swap.

We don't have the Tercel here in UK but that shouldn't stop me running the part numbers. Could you give me your chassis number via PM please? I don't want it on the public forum but it'll help track down which model I'm looking for.

One thing I will say is that if you are having diffs getting rear shoes and drums, the discs and calipers can be even more fun to source depending on your location!

Sorry lost the site ha to dig though my history just to find it. Now I have it bookmarked. Lol I'm here in the states. Brake shoos wheel cylinders hell even new drums witch I have 2 sitting on my floor boards right now no problem. The backing plate that it all goes non fat chance.

i'd suggest the wanted sections and breakers sections of tgtt and www.ukstarletowners.com for starters, you may get lucky and a better deal. Check the feedback section for any potential trading comments/history if you find someone.
if that fails, then try the breakers on ebay uk. This will probably be more expensive for you

you are most likely going to have to import these items given you location

Your better off making your own rear brake kit
Im using mr2 calipers and rotors but requires doing some fab work

Still looking for the backing plates. If anyone has one that can get me the dimensions I work as a Quality control/ Gage calibration tech in a factory. We have a couple million dollar lasers that can gut some pretty thick metal so I might be able to fab them up. Just need the dimensions Like center of hole to center of hole overall with thickness that kind of thing. If they have a CMM and can make a cad model that would be even better.

Discs aren't a problem, the calipers and carriers are the tricky bit unfortunately.

I spotted this list over on Toyotanation.com :

O/S rear caliper 47730-10120
N/S rear caliper 47750-10120
Rear pads 47750-18010
Pad shim kit 04946-16010
Pad fitting kit 04948-16010
Rear discs and bearing x2 42403-19105
Inner bearing seals x2 90311-38037
O/S backplate + bracket 47803-10010
N/S backplate + bracket 47804-10010
Caliper mounting bolts x4 90119-10260
Backplate mounting bolts x8 90119-10447
O/S cable 46420-18010
N/S cable 46430-18010

Think that's based on the EP82 rear disc setup but most if not all will fit EP91.

As I said via PM the UK EP91 should provide a rear drum setup if you preferred an easier option.

Will cross ref them numbers later on toyodiy.com see if they are on another model maybe easier to get

Found a random splash guard from the rear disc setup on a shelf. Heres a few pics to give you an idea of what it looks like.

The splash plate isn't structural (and usually rusts out) so the actual mounting brackets might be an option as I do actually have a pair of them.
