Northern Ireland has suffered in recent times by language being used as a weapon, which is unfortunate as those normally wielding it don't have a very good grasp of it.

well said.
i do laugh when gerry adams is 'speaking' irish,id be shouting 'one word at a time gerry, dont be getting mixed up now' lol!

and ive been out in a town over the border not so long ago, full of EXTREMELY ignorant stuck up people, claiming to be 100% republican lets say,and saying im not as I live in the REPUBLIC OF IRELAND,but when i ask,can they speak the lingo, they havnt a fucking notion.

my dog can speak more irish than so called die hard republicans.:homer:

i think the irish language is great and dont think it will die out.. i have young cousins who go to an irish speaking school.. there second language is english.. there parents speak to them in irish all the time and its deadly.. its a pitty its not better taught in schools for i dont no much myself only a few words.. some parts ov the country irish will never die out... donegal, galway etc.. an irish person sayn they want it die away is wrong an shud be ashamed.. my opinion..
