Blown Turbo / Oem Vac Lines

Hi guys,
Need to rack your brains. Mate of mine has recently bought a Glanza that he thinks the turbo has blown. He said he’s getting a big puff of smoke whenever the car is on boost and oil is coming out of the bov. Car feels under powered also.
It’s been years since I ran a ct9 setup, but do the vac line setup on the bov look correct? It looks like something has been blocked off on the bov.
He said there’s is aftermarket boost gauge fitted which jumps to 1 bar on boost and I think it’s hitting fuel cut also by the sound of things .
I’m thinking previous owner has cranked the boost up without reliant supporting mods which has eventually blown the turbo?
Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks

From memory on mine that red hose was connected from the inlet to the rocker cover, I blanked mine at the inlet and vented the rocker to atmosphere
There should be a feed from the dump valve to the airbox as its a recirculating valve.
Been a while since I've played with mine :(

Was looking at pics of mine for reference but have none as 1 off the 1st things I did was bin the factory dump valve setup and hot air intake

Someone will have pics tho :)

A leaky vac line can cause overboost too, the nipple on my turbo popped of 1 day not long after I got it and I had ALL the boost lol
Thankfully Jay had a really nice nipple for me.....

Vac lines look fine to me. Looks like the stock bov has just been pulled out to make it atmospheric. Someone has obviously done stuff on the cheap.

Not sure why it is hitting 1bar unless there is a hole in the actuator vac lines or has an adjustable actuator perhaps?

May be worth checking to see if it is breathing heavily be removing the breather from the intake to see if any oil/smoke comes out of it when running.

If the oil isn't coming from the breather then it's a good chance it is simply the turbo seals have gone. If it's an old ct9 then that is the likely culprit

Would agree with Duncan, looks hooked up okay but the fact that it's running a bar of boost on a top mount isn't helping his stock turbo.

He could find the turbo seals are failing and letting oil into the exhaust causing smoke and letting oil into the intake side of things too. Dropping the downpipe and intake off might help confirm.

At any rate he needs to get that boost level under control. Runs the risk of doing proper engine damage if it's not addressed.

Thanks for the input guys.
He had a compression test done today and it was 90-100psi across all 4 cylinder's. A lot of oil on spark plugs but he said turbo surprisingly looked in good condition with minimal shaft play.

Quick update guys.
So this lad decided to buy a new turbo in the end. Car is no longer smoking/ spitting oil out of the breather and Bov, but it’s hitting fuel cut still and boosting to 1 bar even with the actuator arm fully extending.
His local Toyota specialist said that its boost creep due to his oem manifold, which I don’t think is the case?
Any other ideas what to try to control boost at this stage ?

Looks like an aftermarket adjustable actuator.

Swap across his old one and see if that helps any?
