Bottom end bearing / blown pistons noises?

Abit of a random one,

but what kind of noise would an engine make for either problems with bottom end or piston problems?

Reason i ask is im still getting this slight knocking noise on tickover, cant hear is when driving and its not the engine mounts...

But its not getting any worse, any ideas or possiblities before i get it fully checked out?

well if the bottom end was going then you would hear a knocking noise and it would get louder as you accelerate

trust me you would notice

is the piston was blown like had a hole in it then i dont think the car would start

as said by ragz you would know if it was bottom end as its very loud and heavy and would get worse under acceleration!!

best bet is to get the bonnet up in a quiet place and listen where its coming from!!

if you rev your car lightly to around 3k 3.5k ul here a loud tapping/knocking, sound, which in any case isn't good. thats what i experienced anyway but i sorted the problem out.

so how did you sort it out?

if i rev it when the revs fall from say 4k it does tap once at 2k as it drops,
