For the rear

As seals perish the contained grease can leak out and moisture and dirt can leak in. To avoid the resulting caliper malfunctions you can replace the seals with these kits.

Part number : 04479-16040
Price : £33.69 inc vat

If moisture penetrates the housing corrosion can affect the sliding pin. A new unit is far more reliable than a repaired one. One of each is required per caliper:

Upper pin

Part number : 47769-16020
Price : £4.49 inc vat

Lower pin

Part number : 47779-32010
Price : £9.81 inc vat

Have any of these kits or calipers on hand? Thinking of replacing/rebuilding fronts and rears. I’m pretty sure one of my pistons is seized and I can’t locate parts here in Guam. I got brakes pads from you earlier this year.

Pretty sure you can get the kit from Toyota still? It's a labour of love, full strip down and rebuild. The rear piston seizes up but a good strip and clean shpuld sort it

I was considering it for mine for handiness compared to rebuilding the caliper when my handbrake seized, it was the cables where toast tho
Cost too, new calipers where 200£ ish each but you can get a drum axl and have it sitting fresh as new for half that

sounds like a lot of work I’m new to all of this lol trying to keep things simple though if switching to drums saves me (literally) in the long run I’d rather do that just not sure what all goes into converting it

I'd stick to whatever is installed, the price of the conversion parts alone would put me off unless there was a cheap donor car going.

Near sure I sold my last seal kit, but you can tap those numbers above into Amayama.com and see what the shipping is like to Guam (can remember it was a bit costly last time).

The prices of the seal kit are pretty good by the looks of it:
