burning of the quran- thoughts?

saw this on the news this morning, looking for peoples thoughts on it.
i'll start off by saying i think its totally disgusting. i'm not a religious person, and i don't know much about the quran or the bible for that matter, but i know it means an an awful lot to an awful lot of people, and this lunatic is going to burn it for absolutely no good reason whatsoever other than to spit in the face of muslims everywhere.
this section of american society are every bit as dangerous if not moreso than the muslim radicals that give all muslims a bad name.

I find it f*cking rediculous!

And not because its the Quran, but because they are burning an object that means so much to millions of people around the world. And they have the audacity to call themselves Christians!? (Many kinds of Christians, these people follow the new testament, Book of revelations, end is coming etc)

They are asking for trouble, God knows what will happen if this goes ahead or what will happen after. Its pointless to be honest

i agree with sam BUT religions have some of the most arcitechtually fantastic looking buildings in the world imo, built over hundreds of years, i would like to not see these burnt down.

if your going to burn one religions book burn them all, I don't believe in religion infact it causes a lot of disputes etc but at the same time as said it's what people believe in for what ever reason... so if it gives them peace/happiness I guess I can't knock them. but come on how many bloody gods do these people think exist?

most of you seem to be missing the point!! its not about the religion, its about being a c*nt! if i had an arguement with one of you, and i wanted to be spiteful i'd hit you where it hurts, i'd beat lump0sout of your car or burn it!
not in the same league but boils down to the same thing!
what would the result of me burning your car, the thing that gives you a lot of hapiness be?

I don't think I am missing the point. If my car got burnt this wouldn't be news, and you wouldn't have started a thread about it. It's only here and on the TV because of the book that was set ablaze. Fact is that there's twats all over the place but this one was the only one to hit the news because he set fire to one of the most widely believed fairy tales in the world. If it wasn't religious it wouldn't be news.

To be fair i dont think many of us can answer this question... on the face of it it seems a stupid terrible idea, but there are obviously very bad feelings about muslims in America.

Its obviously all come about because of the radical muslims that caused 9/11, without that there wouldnt be all this happening?

They obviously feel very strongly about it over there, and the fact that they burn the American/British flags etc infront of cameras only points to the fact there not bothered about how the west feel.

I dont think the priest is racist or possibly fascist, but he is doing it to prove a point almost, if you can show disrespect by burning the american flag ( which is quite important to americans i would say as there very patriotic ) then we can burn what is dearest to you, the quran.

I dont condone it, i just can understand why hes doing it.

9/11 was muslims.

there are plenty of theories, but they wer on the plane, they done it.

Stupid move with regards to the propaganda war that is raging along side the physical war.

Millions of leaflets are dropped etc and many other things are being done to win the hearts and minds of the populations of Iraq and Afghanistan all this will do is stir up more hate for America and destroy alot of the good work and any progress troops have made. Ultimately it will help keep American troops in the middle east for longer.

yes this is going to have serious repercussions! the basic thought behind this is "i hate you so i'm going to hurt you the best way i can", simple! religion doesn't even come into it in my view!

i agree with starlet sam burn the whole fucking lot..my brother in law has a degree in history,and he had a very intresting say on the matter he reckons history is all lies we are beliveing stuff that has been handed down over thousands of years every generation putting there own little spin on what ever....as for these extremist groups living in OUR fucking country(sorry to all decent muslims)if ye ain't happy get to fuck out..our boys are dying in the name of the uk and then they come home and have marches through towns and get booed by these fucking arseholes!!! really makes my blood boil...i would deport all of those fucking extremists...go back to living in a 3rd world country if ye like that fucking much...

this is being blown out all proportion!! can no one see the basic point, this lad planing on burning the books is just being a spiteful cnut!!
why would you do that?! no good can come from it whatsoever!
as said above these "pastors" are worse than the extremists
