Hello guys, i have a starlet GT ep82 4E to 4FTE Converted car. i installed the new engine recently. i cant get my car to start in the morning. my mechanic cant see the problem. oil pressure everything good. its need to circle the ignition to start in the morning and it barely starts and after one start the problem wont happen again until the next morning. car runs good and no white smoking or anything oil coming out of the dipstick. please any help would be nice. there is some ticking noise coming from the blowoff.. when revving the engine and it goes away after 1 or 2 kms runing the car.

car is missing the coolant temp sensor or broken the temprature sensor . and idle control sensor is broken. please check pictures

Morning bud,

That coolant temp sensor could be your problem - the vehicle needs a correct reading from it to know how much fuel to add to the mix.

Get that connected and reassess :)

Sorry, missed that reply.

There's three pins on that switch, are they all connected to where they should be?

The early thermostat housings had a sensor for the gauge and a sensor for the ECU, the later switches like yours incorporated it all in the one switch I think. So the gauge could be reading but the ECU still doesn't know what's going on. I can check the wire colours for you later if that helps?

Just need to ensure the three pins are connected securely. I've had a look for a loom to confirm the three wire colours but don't have one. Hopefully someone with access to a Glanza V should be able to confirm. Even an EP91 bay should be the same.

What state is your connector in?

Also worth mentioning that the broken idle control valve you have posted a pic of relates to the aircon. You could probably delete all that to tidy it up once you have the coolant temp sensor sorted.

That's the earlier version of the coolant temp sensor. Should be two wires heading into it.

The first pic you showed is the later type, which is in the car?

hey ma what is this sensor ?

i think it is another temperature sensor for the fan (or the ecu guage)....its facing the back of the engine on/beside the thermostat housing if i remember correctly...mine is green in color too on my ep91

SWITCH, TEMPERATURE DETECT, NO. 89428-10120
Jay or someone else who can read the online parts listing can double check and see if that's correct

Actually yes - the camera angle threw me lol

That looks like the fan switch on the thermostat cup. Controls the fan operation, one wire connector. If you unplug it the fan should come on (Toyota safety feature).

thanks Jay, i knew i changed both over the years at different times, so i just needed confirmation on each
