Competition Clutches

Hi Guys,

We have been designing and developing our own uprated clutch kit over the last few months. Extensive testing has finally been finished and the clutches are now ready for release.

They are made by Competition Clutch, who are huge in the States but have only recently ventured across the water to supply the UK.

For the 4E Starlet, there are two options;

- Stage 2 Organic Carbon Kevlar

These are an Organic clutch (Carbon Kevlar material) with a high performance alloy backing using an uprated pressure plate assembly to provide an 80% increase in torque capacity yet smooth engagement and extended usage.

These are a great upgrade for starlets up to 220lb/ft, keeping the car as easy to drive as a standard clutch.

The 2100 Stage 2 up rated clutch kit includes a high performance pressure plate, a torque uprated sprung disk with unique high resistance steel backed carbon Kevlar organic facings, bearings and the correct alignment tool.

Price : £345 plus delivery

- Stage 4 Ceramic 6 Pad Sprung Clutch Kit

This cerametalic assembly, utilising and ultra high performance double spring, six rivet carriage is perfect for ease of gear transition with much higher than stock horsepower. This disk, complimented by a performance pressure plate, copes well with up to 250% increase in torque capacity.

These clutches are ideal for high horsepower applications and have been proven to hold over 280lb/ft and constant launching.

The 1620 Series Cermetallic clutch kit includes a performance pressure plate, a six puck high torque sprung disc with Ceramic buttons, all applicable bearings, and the appropriate alignment tool.

Price : £345 plus delivery

- Stage 5 Ceramic 4 Pad Sprung Clutch Kit

This cerametallic clutch assembly, available with a double spring, six rivet carriage is good for ease of gear transition with higher horsepower. This disc complimented by a performance pressure plate provides 300% increase in torque capacity.

The 1420 Series Cerametallic clutch kit includes a performance pressure plate, a four puck high torque sprung disk with Ceramic buttons, all applicable bearings, and the appropriate alignment tool.

Price : £345 plus delivery

I can vouch for the Stage 4 kit. Fantastic clutch, very snatchy on set off for the first few hundred miles but after that its not too bad. Very positive bite. No nasty noises. Would advise changing the rear engine mount rubber for a polybush unit.

The clutches are the exact same kits as what they fit to the Celica VVTI 190, Corolla GTI, Corolla AE86 etc. These clutches have been out a while not in recent development. They're not listed as Starlet fitment but can assure you they are. They share the same spline size/count, pressure plate mountings. As for the prices you might want to work on them. Pointless doing a group buy when you're charging over £40 more than what CC themselves charge.

If anyone wants to see what clutches are available check here, these are all the same fitment as EP82/EP91 4EFTE engines. If anyone is unsure then ring the tech advice and they'll be more than happy to verify.

If you phone Competition Clutch up they normally give you a discount anyway, and the postage isnt that expensive. Mines was £316 delivered next day. Which if you do the maths, is cheaper than yourselves.

If you got it cheaper than the price on the webiste then that is an agreement between you and them, they wont be able to give everyone it for that price as i can hardly get them for that. So you you take the normal price and not your one off then we are cheaper :)
