thats a good question... car is on the road and the alternator left me stranded at the side of a dual carriageway Lol

run in, is now in progress along with identifing and reducing random noises!!

Phil

Nothing worse than being left stranded like that, I managed to free wheel about 15m through a roundabout and just onto a lay-by when I though the problem was fixed......It wasn't lol Good to hear there is progress none the less

Ha ha ha!! I had a R5GTT when I lived in the UK. I was heading over to Blackpool from Bradford and was on the motorway going through a very long stretch where the moors are. It was 2am in the morning and the alternator decided to konk out cuz the belt snapped. I looked left and right and was nothing but moors and it was pitch black and middle of winter with snow coming down heavy. Then I remember Fred and Rosemary west burying victims on some moor somewhere (Dartmoor).......Shit scared I tied both my shoe laces together and looped it around the pullies. I thought at leeast It will get me into Manchester.......I got all the way home to Blackpool!!

A little off topic - but a bit of a tip there for ya ha ha ha

The rear wheel bearings only need to be a little bit more than finger tight and well packed with grease phil. If they are over tightened the don't last.

Horse the front ones up! My mate phil drove a hyundai accent for a year with them completely and utterly hanging out. Scared the crap out of me being in that car and the noise was horrific. I always had scenes of the wheel taking itself down off the road itself but never did haha.

Aye the rears are sweet, no issues there.

The front are both replaced now, and we tightened them well up, but didnt go mental like last time lol

They have a torque setting, its important for the first time as it helps close it all up and keep it there. 105NM rings a bell but worth double checking that with my memory.

I had the same, Grinding when reversing in full lock to the left. Turned out to be stuck break pad on the OS front wheel. And my bearing needing replaced , it makes quiet clinking noises like some change in your poket when hitting bumps

Hi. New to this forum. I'm from south africa and starlet parts aren't available here. Looking for the dimensions on the front and rear wheel bearings? Or any cross reference.
