i've taken the exact same stance for similar reasons...it can have psychological effects reading/hearing negative stuff all the time...yes, we need to keep abreast of the issue at hand and protect ourselves and loved ones,,,but amidst it all, we still have to try to enjoy the life we have (even if restricted for now).Some scary stats coming in from around the world. Social media seems to be filled with conspiracy theories and my whatsapp seems to come alive every couple of days with the same. I am limiting myself to news once per day and not getting in to it online with some of these reports.
You have to be careful mentally with this sort of thing because it is very easy for it to get in to your brain and dominate your thoughts. I am certainly not saying that anyone should be sticking their head in the sand but try not to let yourself become obsessed.
and i try to avoid the conspiracy theories as much as possible---i've always been someone who needed strong facts/proof to support any agenda
