Covid 19

Some scary stats coming in from around the world. Social media seems to be filled with conspiracy theories and my whatsapp seems to come alive every couple of days with the same. I am limiting myself to news once per day and not getting in to it online with some of these reports.

You have to be careful mentally with this sort of thing because it is very easy for it to get in to your brain and dominate your thoughts. I am certainly not saying that anyone should be sticking their head in the sand but try not to let yourself become obsessed.

stay safe.

i've taken the exact same stance for similar reasons...it can have psychological effects reading/hearing negative stuff all the time...yes, we need to keep abreast of the issue at hand and protect ourselves and loved ones,,,but amidst it all, we still have to try to enjoy the life we have (even if restricted for now).

and i try to avoid the conspiracy theories as much as possible---i've always been someone who needed strong facts/proof to support any agenda

If you haven't seen the fabulous charity of a nation coming together for our wonderful NHS!

At time of writing we have collectively raises over 10 million pounds for the NHS. Obviously, this is a drop in the ocean. Its not the money, its the token of gesture of the British public whom have come together so show their gratitude.

Maximum respect for all of the key workers.

Calum

maximum respect to the NHS, supermarket, gas station, communications and ALL other essential workers (too many to name individually) out there putting their lives at risk daily by being on the front line. Blessings to them.
i hope we truly remember what they have done and continue to do.

Hows everyone keeping then ? Strange auld days these, I'm into week 5 now off work, cant complain full pay plus average overtime. Loads off stuff done about the house but still waiting for homebase to open to get tiles and grout to finish the bathroom fslool
Really struggling with anxiety the last few weeks, this virus you cant see coming and people just couldn't care less, que up outside the supermarket then free for all when they get in, I cant deal with it much longer, walked outa Tesco earlier left her too it started feeling proper stressed and panicked, fucking neighbour's dont give a shit either next door have had all the usual mates, family etc in and 2 down has been the same, partying flat out and 2 young kids in the house FFS
My missus is a social care worker so we are getting properly concerned with the behaviour we are seeing around us
I've a doctor's appointment on Tuesday so hopefully he gives me something to help with it, anyone that knows me will be thinking wtf I'm sure lol :D

Jay, are you operating a txt n collect parts collection system yet :p

Idiots will idiot.

Stick to the smaller shops further out, a shopping centre is the last fucking place I'd be going.

Haven't left the house in four weeks other than grocery runs (twice a week). Figure I should listen to all the advice given even if others don't.

(A) If I have it I don't want to spread it
(B) If I don't have it I don't want to catch it.

Can keep myself busy in the garage for many more weeks/months if required, I'm a happy lone wolf thankfully. Can accept Paypal and collection is an option, will adhere to social distancing no worries. Working on peoples cars and outbound parcels are on hold atm though. Least until the lockdown loosens a little.

Plus points: Haven't slept this well, ate this well or exercised as well in years. Hope to retain some of those things going forward!

Just keep calm and covid on.

Feel a lot better today :) going to hit Scrabo on the bike maybe, people depending obviously. I dont feel it when I'm out on the bike as I can easy change direction or move away, the pump track at the leisure centre is still open, well theres no gate on it and its empty every time I go over, right on my back door too :) bought a cheap bike computer but it's just that, keeps switching display etc but in a week I've done nearly 25 miles round the town here.
Just had the brother in law drop off a bike for Casey, same size as mine as shes quite tall and coming 19 soon
Just finished washing it in bleach then fairy liquid, pumped tyres up, fixed the front brake and its riding perfectly now, it was lying in his shed for years he said.
That's a bike each now so going to head out later with the Fam, Mason's been glued to the XBOX flat out so will do him good.
Got 2 water bottles and cages yesterday too, 2 quid a go, I used to drink powerade when I trained years back, I was 12 stone and solid at the best, now I'm touching 10 soaking wet so I'm going to see can I order some from somewhere, cant mind the flavour but the blue one it is :)

you just have to try to keep busy and stay as positive as you can during this challenging time. Be aware of the things going on around you but try not to get consumed by them. Yes, its hard to be putting in all the effort to play your part to stop the spread of covid19, while others around seem to be acting like its business as usual (gathering, partying, liming, etc.), but you can't let that detract you from what you know to be the right way. If you can, try to avoid having any medical drugs for anxiety, hopefully some mental stimulation, family, cars, sleep, etc will help to reduce it in a natural way.

i'm in a similar situation to Jay....happy lone wolf, keeping busy at home (online work and personal life), I have 2 shopping days a week, but I only go out when i absolutely need to, I exercise daily now (i used to about 3 times a week when working), lots of tidying up around the house, better sleeping now, etc...i'm trying to see it as a stay home vacation and get as much rest as i can away from a normally hectic life.

@SKINY a little surprised you are seeing a doctor I just had a phone consult with mine they wont take the risk of spreading contacts.Therapy has gone online rapidly here.My wife is shrink with colleagues in the UK she says you should find some good people to talk with via video. Feeling unsafe at the whim of selfish 'gits' is difficult. I hope you and yours and everybody at tgtt keep safe despite the the stormy times.

apart from being an excellent educational/knowledge resource, i tend to find TGTT can be a relief outlet, as i do see it as part of an online family/community now,,,,many of the members have been here for a while and the new ones add some flavour and freshness at points which is a good thing...so i can see some level of therapeutic benefit from even this site via online communication, as simple as it may seem

Doc gave me some "happy pills" to calm me a bit but I'm reluctant to start taking them as this has came from nowhere and dont want to be starting to be dependent and depressed on them longer term. Went to the garage last night fairly late to avoid folk, place was very quiet with maybe 7 people, floors are all marked out with directions, no entry, 1 way etc which was good to see, walking up the aisles got what I needed and ended up at the back off the store because off the system, walking down to the tills and 3 fellas just appeared coming the wrong fucking way, that was it I cracked and started shouting at them about how they cant take this seriously, they all to be fair apologised and turned back, just then some woman brushed clean past me and said idiots mate, read her the act to for brushing past me ? Got home and rang the manager and gave him shit for it too.
Is it any wonder we wont be out off this anytime soon, the NI death rate while still a fraction off the mainland is climbing daily and cases are going up too, I think we haven't seen the worst yet and if my neighbours are partying again this weekend I'm going in with the breaker bar, full white forensic suit, mask the lot :D
