DIY Bodywork Repairs

As above lads, has anyone ever attempted to do this? My GT is getting on now - 25yo- and parts of my bodywork has seen better days..paint flake/fade... and some small rust lines just below both rear lights.
My car is a weekend/Daily, its never going to be a show queen, but would like to get the bodywork looking better if possible.
I've watched a couple of youtube tutorials and they make it look pretty easy...as always lol.
Just wanted to get some input of you guys first though. Is it worth a try or just pay a body shop to do it?

Thanks

Prep is the most important part. As long as you get that right paint will be easy

Id just pay someone who knows what their doing to do it. Obviously take your time to see what work your local places do. Dont be afraid to travel to someone whos going to do a proper job. Its not a trade that can be learnt over years let alone over a couple of evenings watching YouTube. Plus if it all goes pear shaped it makes it twice the work to put right.

Not too bad bud, lights and bumper off and go over the joints with some sandpaper take it right back see what your dealing with, the bootlid obviously needs painted but nothing to worry about in the meantime

Yea just fold the paper over and only do the grooves bud, then a wee thin brush off red lead down it then a touch up pen would do for the meantime :)

I would strongly advise that you use a wet sand blaster on the rusted parts.
Then treat with a rust remover, blast it again. Let it dry, put a heat gun to it then use something like "Duram NS1) on the are :)
The other work is easy.
Use a 3-4mm wire/bush cutter trimmer line to push it under the window rubber so that you can work(sand and spray) under the rubber or you will have to remove the window.

If they are like the ep91’s they are bonded in, so will need cutting out. If they are held in by the rubber they can be done easier with basic tools.

Unlike the post above i wouldn’t recommend using a wet blaster on the rust as your just encouraging more moisture.

A small grinder will do what you need as its not that far gone.
