as it happens i am just in the middle of doing this now got a digital fridge thermometer for like £1, i am sticking it just inside the the throttlebody (just waitin for the silicone to go off then will see how it goes.

Here is the pipe on the top of the inlet mani, normally it goes off to the 2 solenoid valves above the ignition coilpack. Very easy to seal a small wire into.

Here is how it looks inside the throttle body

That head could be stck onto the casing, or left just poking out into the airflow where the pipe end joins the casing.

Worked for me.

If you are worried about it getting sucked into the engine if the head breaks off, if its anywhere after the cooler there is a chance of that.

mine is slotted into the tb at the last silicone joint with the silicone hose over the wire i will see tomorrow if its a good seal.

also that hose goin into the throttle body (the one in the pic) wat is that for? cos if it was still bein used wouldnt the wire block the air

would the heat from the engine effect the true tempreture of the air flow with it being so near the butterfly?, rather than it being attached/siliconed into the intercooler piping?

@ turbo-fever.. thats something to do with the A/C.. most of the people took it off.

but iver there i think it will not be a very good reading cos of the TB beang more hot cos of the outside temps and the temp sensor attached with the TB.

Still waiting for mine to arrive. Im just gonna stick mine inside the airbox itself, because its plastic there wont be much interference with the engine temp.

not many people are still using an airbox lol.. then again you wont have the same reading of temp going into the engine!

its from hong kong so it will probably take a month :(

so if i was to disconnect the little hose on the top of the throttle body and block it off with the sensor it will do no harm is that correct?

Yeah, but im still running n/a. so it wont make a huge difference like the turbo's air temps.

if everything goes as planed. tomorrow we will change the water pump and if we have some time this will be fitted...

think i will put it in the glove box cos it looks ugly as hell lol

As was said before, its not a true reading of engine air intake temperature unless its near the engine, with the engine temps affecting the air temp.

If its just after the cooler, what you are truely measuring is intercooler air temp output.

Toyota have the ECU air intake temperature sensor fitted above runner 1 on the inlet manifold, after the throttle body!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Spoonz: got a real good seal there, just by folding the silicon tube over and using a cable tie to hold it bent over.
I fitted it into the silicon that fits onto the throttle body. where the last intercooler pipe is and it looked like there was a small gap on either side of the wires.
I didnt want to really tighten the clamp down to squash the wires so moved it over. Worked well.

the temp readings update every 11seconds :(

i think it would have been better doing some good search before. cos i would have got myself a temp guage and sensor and would fit it in the plenum somewhere
