i know i'm probaly going to get slated for this, but i'll ask it any way. lol.

you can buy performance light wieght pulleys for £100's. but is there a cheaper way.

if you took your time, measured everything, could you drill the stock pulleys to loose some weight, if you measured everything and did it accurately then balancing should be ok?

just a thought. lol

Not even if you drilled it accuratly with vernier calipers and everything. Theres differences in the metal that you can't allow for. It must be balanced as it is a spinning part. Otherwise it will vibrate and possibly break free and go thru your bonnet like the home made lightened flywheel.

yeah like he said mate, they gotta be balanced really. Plus when you drill it you put stress raisers in the pulley which could fall apart when going like 7000rpm lol plus theres the micro fractures that will occur in the metal as well. Depends on how sturdy a standard pulley is but i doubt its a good idea. but thats pretty much the theoretical side, i suppose you could give it a go if you want lol
