driving in the snow, police fines and points

if you do manage to drive in the snow, make sure you clear your car off first, police are issuing £60 fine and 3 point on your licence if the roof, bonnet, windows, lights and plates arent clear.
its under section 229 of the highway code i think.

would be good if a traffic officer can confirm this.

I can understand about the windows and lights and number plates, but why does the roof and bonnet have to be cleared lol.

makes sense i suppose would be pretty harsh not to just issue a warning though...

i slid round the t junction corner in the corolla earlier and didnt notice til id straightened up there was a traffic officer sitting at the lights at the junction. shat myself when i noticed, but when i looked right at him he gave me a thumbs up, lmao!

Totally down the the officers discretion I guess, if they see you've tried to clear it I assume a warning will be given. if it's just plain stupid then there within there rights to fine you and I'd assume give points too.

All down to officers discretion as always.

They also say it's an unsecure load it's a load of bollox.- as snow is to come in prolific amounts, they feel they can make money from it.

but if ur driving and it falls on ur windowscreen and u smash into sum1 which u could avoid. or it falls behind u and it hits sum1s car and they crash or its damaged.
its stupid, lazy and irrasponsible not to clear it
be ud be the first to complain if uv just bought a cruise bumper or a carbon lip and a big chunk of snow/ice fell off sum1s car and damaged it.

the thread would title
"some p**k dint clear there snow off there roof and bumper ruined"

and also watch out with your driving, about 5 years ago, i got done for careless, i lost control and nearly slid into the kirb, so i pulled on the handbrake to try and avoid it, and was seen doing it and got 5 point. and it was probably the only time that winter that i wasnt purposely playing in the snow lol.
