ECUMaster Det3

Hi lads,

Is anyone familiar with the ecumaster DET3 Piggyback ECU?

I want to buy one for my GT, and just wanted to double check what I needed, and how I go about getting a base map, which my tuner said he would need to map my car.

I bought an lsd off one of the Irish lads - richardc9052 - on UKS Forum a few years back and he seemed to be quite familiar with the det3 kit. He's no longer active on the forum though, so can't pick his brains.

Thanks for any info.

Wait what?? The shop your considering can't map a "piggy Back" but they can "Map" an ECU???Unless they only do ME stand alone's, in that case there kinda lazy but at least they stick with what they know. :)

I wanted to run the DET3 in FI mode....instead of piggyback mode. However to my knowledge there are only 2 tuners I am aware of here in the UK who tune the DET3....One was way too far away and the other one would only map if he had a base map to begin with...try finding a det3 basemap over here in the UK for a 4efte....not happening lol.

In the end I spoke to a reputable local tuner and he suggested getting my hands on a ME221 instead :)

Well keep us posted! I like the price point on those units and it has auto tune, which means it takes input from a Wide Band and takes input from a knock sensor! Those are "must have for me!" :)

When you get it can you let us know if it display info in ... uh US English?? That's a make or break for me! Cuz, I don't have time, on the road to figure "convert" Bar to PSI?? My 951 can run 22 psi on race gas or ... on pump gas with Water/Methanol injection! :)

But I can't afford to get the BAR to PSI conversion wrong at speed!! I need two ECU for my cars! And I would just as soon use the same unit for both! The Porsche 951) has speed and reference sensors on the freaking fly wheel, that cause "issues" at time and I want to ditch them! As well as the whole of the engine harness! SO I want to change it to "Crank and Trigger."

My 5efe which blew up (not my fault!) Had wasted spark and a crank trigger already! And ... sigh for "some reason" I had GT REV fromm long gone Tercelonline, build me a harness for a Distributor based 5efe motor?? So I changed my Distributor-less 5efe to a Distributor ... WTH??

That was a few years ago and that worked but now I want to change it back for a turbo and at least the crank trigger signal assembly is still there! But I have no idea what I changed, in order to add a distributor?? Sigh it seemed like a good idea at the time?? :)

Are you using a Distributor based setup???

Hi All,

i have wired in det3s to many vehicles including a 4efte GT turbo, road tune them all myself in Fuel Implant mode.
Hello. My tuner at the beginning told me the best option was a EMU Classic. Then I told him that I wanted to keep my air conditioning and RPM cluster and working so he said that probably it was better to use a piggyback. The only thing that worries me is that he said that the DET 3 has just been released but I know this is not true. I told them back in the day is about it but he wouldn’t even think about it. So I would like to ask if I could work on a map by myself without fucking up.

I would love to know as well. But first I would like to find a base map to run the DET3. How is it possible that nobody provides it?
