### EP95 turbo conversion ###

I could be completely wrong but the way I drive is to get all my braking done before the corner and accelerate around the corner.I can get faster times driving this way.

That's how any professional racing driver would learn as well, braking through a corner scrubs speed but so many VARIABLES. The less steering you can possibly do the faster the car can go through a corner common physics as the rolling radius is reduced. This is why aggressive erratic drivers that throw the cars into corners as fast as they can go are slower as they have to make far more steering corrections, like Jeremy Clarkson :haha:

There is an EP95 over here currently running 300 bhp and no problems. The owner internds to finally run around 350 to 380 bhp.He has built a custom gearbox using bits from the EP95,EP91 and EP82 and a few other Toyota's.Third gear sees well over 100mph.
whos that trevor?any pics??

ok have finally stopped laughing so ready to write up

munday you saying that you go as fast as your cars allows you then take a corner off the throttle:homer:
of course a 4wd will go round a corner faster than a fwd, as you come into the corner in a fwd and put the power on u tend to understeer and spin up, and in the 4wd the back end drops and the raer wheels power you through the corner
dan remember i did'nt have much more than 230 when i had you out in it and i would like to think that a well set-up starlet would'nt be able to take guilford corner as quick:haha:

steve 322 is his username johnny, I met him a bishopscourt once, there are not to many lads out there sharper than him.

I would doubt very much he would post any pics, the car looks pretty standard apart from the wheels and the suspension height, and the big back box lol.

I dont want to ressurect anymore of the driving technique posts but bear this in mind, any car, fwd, rwd or 4wd, even ones without a lot of power, will spin wheels, oversteer and understeer through corners. No matter how the suspension is set up.

Its the drivers cornering technique that makes the car fast round the bends in my opinion. Mines really slow lol.

instead of the back end sliding out it will be pulling the back end round the corner so you wont get bad oversteer

Cole the Starlet 4wd system only puts power to the rear wheels when the front wheels spin up.

It wont pull you through a corner when its pushing from the back mate, what it will do is cut power to the front wheels so it wont slide out on power understeer, but the front will still slide if its pushed hard enough.

Bloody hell I was only saying the cornering speed would be he same, not that a fwd would be as quick round a track.

And no I'm not saying take corners with no throttle, but balance the throttle so you maintain speed. If you accelerate around the corner then you are using some of the grip from the tyres is used to accelerate rather than utilizing it all for cornering. I'm not putting down anybody driving style because I'm just talking about on track racing.

I'll shut up now because I don't know about ep95s ;)

enough with the driving, please! let's get to technical matters. I'm building an ep85 turbo too, probably k26 powered. I don't worry much, but if there's room for improvement, i'd like to know.

the real world difference between 4wd/2wd is the way its useable day to day.
i had a 200bhp gt 2 years ago and loved it in the dry, took on loads of so called fast cars. however first sign of rain or even a half dry road had the stickiest tyres spinning.

thats why the ep85 is a good option. it puts it down in all british weathers, isnt just fun in the dry. why build a 300bhp ep82/91 if its only usable in the dry?

unfortunately as the exchange rate is crap and a lot of ep85s are either 5 door or automatic means hardly anymore will be brought over.

out of interest boys in what ratio is the power distributed to the wheels in the 4wd ep85 trans ie 50/50? there is such a thing as having too much power in a 4wd car, my old gti-r at 430bhp used to spin up coming out of bends when nailing it and understeered pretty bad no matter how well the suspension was setup..

at ai autosport when i rolling roaded theres a display for what i assumed was wheel horsepower as the car is rolling. one was front axle, one was back. as far as i remember it peaked at about 105 front axle and 75 back

yeah i was under the impression the 4wd ep85 trans splits the power distribition around 70% to the front wheels and 30% to the rear. so may be worth finding out for sure on that one..

He swapped it for his old GT, but now he has it going well, I think you would need to lavish him with cash, or sexual favours of some kind!

Trevor brings them in Aidan, give him a shout and he will do the conversion as well.
