That signal is from a coil inside the distributor, G2 I think it is called. Check the connections at the 5 pin plug on the distributor and also the ECU plugs, test for continuity of the wire between each as well.

If it persists it may need a new distributor.

Yeah I reset it and it came back. So thank you mate I will check it tomoz at work for continuity. What the best way of getting to the end of the wires that go down inside the dissy? Do I have to disconnect the dissy cap and rotor arm and then check it or is there any other way of doing it. As in where do the wires go to the ignitor? Have you got any pics of wiring diagrams buddy or know where I can find them? Thanks

Wires go back to the ecu, that wire is at 1 end of a coil in the distriubutor so you should get quite a high (less than 1000 Ohms) resistance reading between it and another wire on the distributor if its ok. The coil picks up a signal from a revolving actuator so even if it is ok then its possible its not working right still, trying a new distributor may be the only option.

Need more info about your car before you can get a part number, but Toyota will rape you for a new one, better off buying a second hand one.

Think I will try and get a second hand one then. My car has got a front mount intercooler, trd leads, hks air filter (relocated to the front) stainless manifold, standard ct9 turbo, de-cat, hks full exhaust system, hks dump valve, hks evc 2 set to standard boost 0.70bar I think and the solenoid bypassed so allways on High boost. Hope this helps, my cars has done 90463km 1997 1.3 turbo Glanza.

Well then I've changed my dissy tonight and it's still doing the same thing. Anyone got anymore suggestion on what to change yet. Coil pack or ignitor maybe?

Im pretty sure the signal wires go to the ecu so that it can create a spark map mate. Here I've found a site (http://epbible.weebly.com/wiring-diagrams.html) that has (among other diagrams) a pin out diagram for the 'manual ep82' 4efte ECU, it's quite a small resolution but I've made out the following that correspond to the error code 12:
All the following pins are located on the larger of the two connectors going into your ECU, it should have a total of 26 pins on the correct connector.
G-= blue/yellow wire - pin 9
Ne= blue/green wire - pin 21
G1= orange/blue wire - pin 8
G2= white/blue wire - pin 20
check for resistance and ground shorts between these (also check they haven't shorted in between each other), they should go straight from the large 4 pin dizzy connector to the ecu at the aforementioned pins, but make sure you unplug them both first. If everything is ok and error 12 still wont go away you've either got a problem with your dizzy crank monitoring arrangement or you need a new ecu.
