i nearly cried today.

travelled all the way to the great lads, nick and mike at TD, got it mapped, traveled back, unloaded, washed it then blew the f**ker up. went up dronfield bypass, turned, went for a spirited drive back and BAAANNNGGGG, CLATTER, no power, SMOKE SCREEN..... i jumped out, opened the bonnet, seen a hole slammed the bonnet as hard as i could and walked away from it. sat for 5 mins on the grass verge, BLOODY raging with myself :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. had another look. then phoned dad for a tow home. pics will follow when i get home on monday. owel, another rebuild it is then, THIS time it WILL be FORGED!!!!

a man i feel you pain had this happen to me in my turbo st205 celica 18000 euro forged engine bang 10 days it was only done my heart goes out to ya

What is your setup? Shouldn't do that if everything is as it should be, whether its stock or not, as long as you don't push the engine further than its capabilities

A lot depends on the tuner and the map! A bad tuner can f**k any engine - forged or not! What was your boost? what turbo are you running? what BHP was the car making? Anything around 200 bhp is safe for the standard engine...

On the bright side, at least you made it home first!

I remember when I went down, drove like a saint till I was on the other side of Aberdeen haha

Be as well selling that bonnet now too :haha:

Bad look mate there seems to be a bit of a pattern forming here! 2 in 2 months tuned by the same team with bottom end failure?

standard bottom end, td04 at spring rate 1.1bar but with a slight leak at the ewg flange only reading 1bar, 330 injectors, emu, tial ewg, 255 pump. all the right things i needed to run it. was running well until it went bang. it looks like piston failure, dad found the top end of the rod and gudgeon pin sat on the front x-member when we got back. just hope the heads salvagable.

fro, that bonnets going nowhere, lol.

no over revving, changed well before redline, have always changed before redline.

away to do the landy prop uj's, then mite go whip the head off. il update later.

Some EMU's are a bit shit. Have you got a revision 5 or E? You'll need to open her up to find out and it's stamped on the circuit board. If not, it could have been that. I don't understand the technicalities but I know when they go wrong, they cause major engine damage.

got another block and rods sourced already, just hope pistons are good. will pick that up later in the week.

it was driving mint!! loved it. handles really well, brakes are amazing. hope to get it running again asap.

hopefully it stays together abit longer this time. i know its a pain in the arse building standard, but not got money for forge yet. so quick rebuild then back together again. yeah, normally micras doing the damage.

mite just run it at .9 bar this time, then go to town on my new engine

tell me bowt it. deffo a piston failure. i havnt dug the piston out of the engine yet as it means taking more of it apart, but il do that when im back home. by the feel of it, its broke the piston at either the second or third ring and caused the destruction, cos the top of the piston still feels like its got a ring holding it. think it was just a weak part. there is no sign of det either
