Fantastic unknown setup.

I may have randomly spotted that car in Cyprus, looks familiar lol

Corolla 4EFE potentially?

It's got the coil setup from one and the fuel rail looks like it's from one too.

EDIT: yes 4EFE boosted @ .5bar and it's in Cyprus. He answers a few questions on another vid,

Yeh. Very cool setup. If that's just on the surface what lies within. And on a ct9 hyb.
I need to know more.

He's spent a lot of time and effort there for sure. The bay is tidy, few nice mods, perfect for fun on those roads. He seems to be active on youtube so you might be able to quiz him directly on power figures/dyno results?

TBF a hybrid CT9 isn't even doing much at that sort of boost level. They come on song in and around a bar of boost.

I ran a 'detonator' 4EFE at around the same half bar boost level and it wasn't even sweating the stock turbo unit. Didn't even think it would last two minutes on boost to begin with. Lasted over two years lol.

Young Phil was telling me his made 230 on a hybrid ct9, mapped by Richard Bradley so no doubts there lol
With my tf035 kit I'd be happy at 2/220

Nice figures there for sure.
I'll give it a go on u tube, I'm very new to all this internet chatting. I'm yet to get a smart phone.
The standard tdo4l I ran for 2week made good power on lower boost but .8bar was a sweet spot for surge of power.
I know the ct9 come in very early in the rpm even the hybs, I'm going to try and get a fix on the proformance pressures.

The TDo4 has a different delivery for sure, although once again, they start to come alive at a bar.

The fact he's using a 4EFE with that coil setup is interesting. The only time I've seen it was when I built a GT for Rab on here. We took the 4EFE from his sister's 'bug-eye' Corolla (E11 I think). I binned the crank sensor, coils and wiring because we were using the 4EFTE loom that was already in the car. Always wondered what would happen if one was boosted with it all in place. Would imagine it would be an improvement on the usual setup.

After seeing one in person though I figured retro-fitting one to our starlet 4EFE would be a fair bit of work. The crank sensor wouldn't have a recess to sit in and the distributor hole would need plugged for starters. Even the lower timing belt cover is different. I did keep the bits but finding them here might be a mission.

Anyone know what a Cyprian EP91 4EFE engine has as standard? Can't help but think that engine is stock and he's just boosted it using bolt-ons and a piggyback. A chat with him should hopefully confirm matters Sam.

Also - are those plugleads bothering anyone else's OCD? :D

Pics from the engine swap..

You can see the additional trigger wheel for the crank sensor. Would be a bit tricky to retrofit.

You can also see there is an alloy brace around the underside of the gearbox which I figure might add some strength. Never figured out the reasoning behind it though.

MK3 love them. Having a read threw now, im loving the abilities and knowledge people have on here.
Yeh the diss less system on the 4efe (next gen ems faster) rules out the mechanical dizzy in a millisecond electronic world but a good piggy back would be needed.
Personally this is as far as I would go on a ignition setup.

We basically just bucked it into the bay in place of a 4EFTE and ran it at .5 bar. Made 110 bhp (IIRC) with that boost but spooled up a bit quicker.

Always meant to up the boost to the stock .65 bar but Rab sold it before we got too far into it. Pretty sure it's hiding in a shed in Ireland somewhere.

You're right about the DIS set-up. Should give a nice strong spark, all you would need. Although I hear COP is all the rage these days lol.

Yeh cop setups are rarely used to there full potential. To map one in fully takes years (individual cylinder timing) you also need to monitor individual cylinder temps and really have things like siquential injectors, as well as good valve timing (vetec) with indirect injection. To really get the benefits.

The waste spark dissless system is there and ready to be piggy backed. Toyota ready.

From the little I know about cop conversions you simply bolt the trigger wheel to the crank pulley or harmonic balancer if your posh
The plugs for the dizzy hole are available too, Fensport springs to mind.

I found this on the you tube.

Can any 1 tell me anything about this car.
I'm after a Dyno graph of full setup if possible.
I messaged him. Let’s see if you can give me a list of pieces and some tips to turbo charged 4EFE on my E11 1998 Corolla. Thanks for pointing this out!
