Fixing your window motor *

I've noticed alot of people having troubles with their electric window motors and thought I should right up a quick guide on how to fix them!

Step one: Remove the motor from the mechanism by undoing the 3 bolts holding it, (can be done without removing from mech, just makes it harder to get the cog straight enough to bite) then you'll be left with this.

Step two: Check the outta cog and see if it’s loose or if it falls out like mine did!

Step Three: Take the metal cover off the top of the motor, by unclipping it at the sides and try to stop the sticking sealant getting in/around the plastic cog inside.

And heres the problem causing a shakey window going up, getting stuck etc a faulty sur clip!

Step Four: Remove the sur clip and check the plastic cog still has all its teeth. (Should be fine aslong as you haven’t continually tried putting the window up/down when it 'Breaks').

They shall be reunited!

Step Five: Place the cog back in to the motor lining it up with the plastic cog on the other side.

Step Six: Go to your local engineering shop/garage and get a new surclip if possible, if not you can reuse your old one but there’s always the chance it'll pop off again as its lost its tension.

Step Seven: Put the cover back and reattach to mechanism

Step Eight: Enjoy the cool breeze!

Hope this helps all those people with electric window problems!

Ps. Sorry for the crappy/big images my computers being crap and not letting me resize.

Rich.

Mr2 ones fit. I got a 1991 mr2 one for mine (1994). Although you have to change the plug.

I never used the mr2 one, I canabalised it for parts for mine so I didn't need to change plugs.
