Full bare shell rebuild

Lads did anyone do a full bare shell respray? I have to spray my Gt sometime but sounds like a waste of time with out going the full hog as the car could be hiding some jdm/irish rust.whats the most common thing lads do? Yes it all comes down to budget but if I am going to spray the car I want to do it right

Haven't done a full resto on anything (yet).

Always seem to break them down into two areas; underneath and the visible bodywork. Would be nice to find someone willing to tackle both in that they put the car on a spit and blast everything back then work from there. The only problem with that is generally the costs involved.

So far I've just been grinding back the undersides on mine, then treating and coating it to keep things rolling. The actual paintwork will need addressed further down the line by someone who knows what they are doing.

Mmm OK lads, don't think I ever seen a gt/Glanza on a spit so I am thinking they are not at that age yet are most off all lads won't spend that much on the shell. I would like to think my shell is in good shape but I would say the sills are on the way to meet Mr rust soon :(

Regards my paint work some person tried to respray it and made a right balls off it, paint is chipped and all orange peel shame really.

Totally depends on the car in question but for an old Toyota to hit 30 and not have any rust is unexpected. I've seen 10 year old VAG stuff rotted through lol.

Inspection is the first step, identify what you have to deal with and then launch into it. The sooner you tackle it the better IMO.

Sure what does a good window out respray cost nowadays? I'd be guessing as close to 3k euro judging by quotes I have been getting for other bits of work maybe even more, prices for work has only gone up over the years it seems :)

As for getting the car on a spit I'd imagine it's mega money, I wouldn't be surprised to see North of 10k to strip, blast on spit, rust treatments and repairs and finally paint and rebuild to high standard.
