Force of habit - It's just the way I've always done them. Drop it in at an angle, set it flat and lift it into position.

Dropping the car onto it is much harder for an old duffer like me working alone lol

Just lift it lol, I managed to lift the front off Rabs old shell myself to get the exhaust off, granted it had no interior tho lol.
But yea whatever is handy bro

Can't believe you didn't put the engine and box in from the bottom. It's sooooooo much easier.
From the top is likely the way the workshop manual sais tho, the st185 gt-four workshop manual lifts them in and out at an angle tho it's much handier to use the crane to lift the car and drop it onto it :)

I've just sat the car on ramps and I can simply lower the engine and box into a skid and slide it out under the front of the car.
No messing about trying to angle anything. You don't have to take the bonnet off either.

Done it on every car I have dropped the engine out of. It just makes so much sense to drop things out the bottom!

Don't worry, I'll be taking that approach with the auto when it's time. Just have gotten into the way of dropping them in over the years.

It's great to see the aul girl get some attention. Other the valves sticking everything else okay interesting to see when you open it up to see seals perished etc...

How long have you owned the car Jay and how many years have you driven it before the crash. Taking apart the original engine be interesting, would you do a rebuild on it an put it back in so 100% original?

Yeah, still turns fine, just needs an overhaul and it'll be sweet again.

Bought in Feb 2000, drove for 18months (ish) then a old blind fella took the front corner off it. Got the damage fixed and been stockpiling parts ever since. Always been on the back burner. Got it with 80k on the clock and that's up to around 115k or thereabouts. Think I've already stated that it's not the best or most original out there but it is mine :D

If it wasn't for the other eps to keep you going that mark one would off Been back on the road 15 years ago I'd say. Maybe could see the tar end off summer way things are going .
