GT starlet, rear brake caliper not working please read

lads i went in for the nct on saturday and it failed on the drivers rear caliper not working, the foot brake is not working / stopping the wheel for turning But the handbrake is 100% i have changed the caliper and rebuilt it so IT IS NOT the caliper and also removed the rubber pipes that go in to the caliper and still not a thing. could it be the master cylinder are the pipes coming from the front to the back off the car? thanks

As I understand it you are getting brake fluid flowing to the caliper? Is it squirting strongly when you open the bleed nipple with the pedal pressed?

yes you are right i am getting fluid but coming out slow when bleeding

If this is the case even when the nipple is suddenly cracked opened with pressure on the pedal that line may be clogged and the cause of your issue. Is it flowing just as slowly on the side that is working? Since you have already replaced the rubber hoses you can perhaps try compressed air to clear the blockage...although typically collapsed hoses are the cause....on older hardly driven cars at least.

If it's not the caliper I'd look at the brake proportioning valve on the bulkhead. The one on mine caused a lot of headscratching at MOT time.

If you can't find a working secondhand one blow your current one out with compressed air and see if that helps. They are a crazy price new from Toyota so don't bother asking.

having a similar issue at the moment . failed nct on rear brake imbalance. have new pads , discs , reconditioned calipers , hoses and cables. gonna have to take a look at brake proportioning valve and maybe clean it out.

I've two sets of calipers . My old calipers failed on footbrake . My spare set of calipers which I had refurbed and fitted for the re test . Failing on both foot and handbrake.

Wondering if my calipers are still the problem at this stage
