GT Turbo cylinder head

Hello , my cylinder head needs replacing on my mk 2 GT Turbo, I was looking to find out if the Glanza and GT cylinder heads are the same?

Hey mate,

They are pretty damn close. You could even use a 4EFE cylinder head if you swap the valve springs across.

Only thing to watch for is a coolant port on the back of the head. That appeared on later 4E engines. If you use the compatible 4EFTE intake manifold and gasket it isn't an issue.

I'll grab a pic of what to look for if I get a chance tomorrow.

In actual fact here's what to look for, found a pic Texx posted ages back, if you just make sure the one you are buying matches your current head it should be fine:

IIRC the pre 1996 EP82 engine has a coolant port on the back of the head, the later engines don't have this port.

If you use the other type than what you have make sure you get the intake manifold and it's gasket. That'll keep you safe.​

thats the port leading coolant to the throttle body.later models don't have this port since they realized it doesn't help at anything(plus they went to coil packs on later 4efe engines and threw away the distributor)
