lookin to replace my head gasket. i found this thread^^with replacing the orgine 4efte gasket with a 2e one. wen i removed the gasket from my car last week i noticed some of the ports in the head were covered i can post pics if needed would like to know if these holes need to be opened or is it ok the way they were

them holes are your waterway, it doent realy matter but the more of them thats open the better for engine cooling= more reliable, athena gaskets have them all open i think

I think the 2e and 4e gaskets look exactly alike and if I'm not mistaken you'll see that those ports are closed on the original 4e gasket as well. I had a 2e gasket on my 4e for about 2000km and it blew, but that was because the head was warped.

correct me if i am wrong but from what i noticed the 2e 4e nd 5e gasket can all be used with the 4e cylinder head

weve been using it for a long year. no problems and its track proven. 2e is the same w/ athena more water holes than 4e gasket.
