I'm really stumped I have a really nice forged engine which the crank has snapped on causing one of the pauter forged rods to take a slight bend, can anyone tell me what to do? Where to try for a replacement or what? I've emailed pauter but not having much luck!

take the rod to a reputable engineering place. rods can be re-aligned, but would need to be checked and inspected thoroughly.

yeah to straight a conrod is never going to be as strong as it originally was and is very likely to bend again in that same plain of direction.

You only need 1 rod just make sure there all balanced together. If your having issues give me a shout I'll see what i can find for you.

Also how did the crank snap? your not running one of those horrible alloy crank pulleys are you?

It was originally danthemans engine I think then Essex-ep's then ktl's if my searches are right. It was lightened and balanced I think I don't know exactley, not sure of that weakened it it was on oem pulleys it snapped just after rod 1(gearbox side).

I'm having real troubles tim help would be appreciated!

ah possibly because of the lightening process it just got weak.

this a normal 4e pauter rod? nothing custom or anything? 5e etc

If the crank was knife edged it certainly would have been made weaker without going through any hardening processes.

I can't see anything Obviously modified on the crank I'll look deeper one it's all apart. I think it's a standard 4e I beam I'll upload some pictures hopefully tomorrow eve. Thanks!
