hello,
am in the process of buying rods and forged pistons for my 5e turbo build.
Anyone can help me choose the pistons (wiseco, wossner or cp) or kindly share their experience....
As for the rods am going for pauter.

What BHP and boost will you be running?

CP and Wiseco use a diffferent grade of aluminium which is stronger than Wossner.

So unless you're running 1000bhp Wossner will be fine.

I wonder though, strength is one thing sure, but surely the different grades allow for other properties, such as tolerances and clearances and thermal expansion?

In other words, a weaker (but still strong) piston, may be more suited to the road, over a harder piston which is designed to spend its life under high load high pressures?

Or do you not think that's the case?

Pros and cons on both.

Check the grade of alloy they use.

4032 better wear characteristics, not as noisy when cold but not as strong.
2618 stronger, noisy when cold (not much though) higher wear rate.

1. They are more expensive
2. They have a higher wear rate than Wossner 4032 pistons
3. Louder when cold due to a larger pistons to bore clearance needed as they expand more

4032 alloy pistons are fine for what you need.

Pick 2618 pistons if you are running BIG horsepower or maybe you decide to run NOS as well. 1/4 mile race cars use 2618 alloy pistons.

So if I want to have a 300-400whp setup, is it too much for the wossner? What I'm saying is where about is the switching point that sb will need the 2618 material pistons. I'm not interested for it right now but I'm just too curious. :D
