i got a little tip, leave some old black carpet behind with nails in it, sticking up, the Farside Front, or the wheel that is next to a wall or something that a shadow hides it, if a thieve tries to do a dive away, he wont get far, and the sound of the tyre bursting is sure to wake you up and you can pop your head out your bedroom window to get their number plate (generally an N Reg transit connect flatbed) thats probbably been nicked. but if they lead to the van they lead to your car.

My father used to rewire the ignition so it doesn't work unless you press certain button/s on the dashboard -)))))))) did the trick! In the cold winters he was taking the car battery of the car (and kept it indoors) - which helped a lot during the freezing -30C conditions, particularly on the Diesel cars! And of course the best advise would be to have a dog outside of your house! He never had an alarm on his car - described it as a waste of money unless it's a seriously expensive alarm - but even then they somehow steal the cars......

Few friends have these.. http://www.wickes.co.uk/Driveway-Security-Post/invt/190997

Can put someone off from pulling it off your drive way, But the scary thing is now days.. if someone wants your car... They will come in your house to find the keys, Im affraid to say it, but it dose happen alot!!, this time last week, my mums friends 60plate audi rs4 got stolen, they had bought it 4 days earlier, The scum came though the back door, and took the keys, took a laptop as well, witch had all he husbands files on the for his company on it also, All while they were asleep with 3 kids in the house! not a nice thought!

My dad put a thick chain through a floor bolt under the seat and pad locked the steering wheel with it, seemed to be a deterant.
Someone might know how to do a kill switch for a Starlet. On a non efi engine I used to earth the distributor with a hidden switch and the engine wouldn't start.

My current alarm works like a mobile phone it rings my key ring if anyone touches the car even shows if the doors open or engine is running and works for up to 500m away.

Laughing at some of these, It's a shame to have to go to these extreme's cause other people can't be arsed to work and pay, a guy near mine had his retro cosworth craned off his drive, also heard of people buying cars been followed all the way home by the seller with the spare key!! The truth is if somebody wants your car that much they will find a way!

I have the best security in the world a three tonne land rover sitting behind it. Nothing's moving that.

In a secure car park at work too.

When I was parking in the city centre, fuses out, isolator switch and crook lock.

Yeah, parking outside our place is restricted due to road works shortly so I'm on the look out for a cheap 'victim' that can be parked down one of the side streets. A GT will go AWOL in no time ffs.

Also worth mentioning that if any of your family members are driving around Belfast tell them to LOCK THE FUCKING DOORS. Plenty of hi-jackings reported in the past month with people getting pulled out GTA style. Would hate for anyone's mum/sister/wife/etc to be the victim of these attacks.
