what do you reckon then texx ?

i have wired up the fcd 100% right im sure, like i say i have checked it over and over over last 2 days

whys the map sensor now fialed because i wired up the fcd ?

and were do i go from here ?

who sells maps and hw much are they ?

With the engine idling, pull the spark plug leads off one at a time (if you've got some thick rubber gloves, put them on). If you pull a lead off and there is no change in how the engine runs, then you've identified a cylinder that's in trouble.

Did this ^^ identify a misfiring or non firing cylinder?

Get a video up of the engine running, your vague symptom description isn't helping much. From what your saying I don't think you have any MAP sensor or FCD related problems, if the engine is misfiring on one cylinder then it's likely to be a coincidental unrelated fault. You may have a dodgy HT lead or the spark plugs may be fouled and need cleaning.

update,

car still sounds identical to a subaru

been lucky enough to have been lent a spare working map sensor and i fitted it after battery being of for a minute or so and it did NOTHING !

next port of call is the spark plugs and leads which i will look at tommorow.

as i have said already i am sooooo gratefull for all of your inputs, those who have helped i am massively gratefull for your time and will update tommorow.

and if and when the saga is over you will all be duely repped of course

do still wonder though why the car wouldnt run if at all when i fitted fcd ?

how would that have temporarily made the car not work ,then when REMOVED make the car work ok for a few miles then play up again ?

Its just like i say i have checked the wiring that i did over and over and its right.

when you spliced the wires how did you do it ?
did you cut them clean through and join them back up with a connector or did you strip the outter wire back ? is it possible the wires could be touching or crossed somewhere or worse still maybe the connecting spade inside the ecu plug has pulled back to far to now connect to the ecu,
just brainstorming your problem as i had the pressure sensor wire touching another incorrect green wire with really simular results

ok well thats pretty conclusive its not that then,
just really strange that it happened when you tried to install your FCD almost to much of a coincidence for it not to be connected know what i mean

fixed thew cars running problem, was water in number one sparkplug lead.

runs perfect

fitted up fcd and still refuses to run at all and wrings perfect and have checked about 30 times now.

it sounds like its gona start then just dont at all.

fcd red wire shows 8.97 volts.is this right ?

No, it should have battery voltage. Remove the ECU plug that you've connected the red wire to and check the voltage reading at the ECU side of the plug on the relevant pin, you'll need to switch the ignition on to get a reading.

Connect the black wire from the FCD to the body of the car, do not use the ECU wiring as an earth.

ok i have just fitted the fcd defencer up with 12.4v from a good source put the earth into a source and still doesnt work !!!!!!!!

the car goes to start and runs for a split second then dies but stinks of fuel massively !!!!!

also bearing in mind this leaves just to wires to get right, thats how i am so sure i have got it right .

the 9 volts was from the ecu by the way.didnt think that was enough voltage but obviously it really didnt matter anyway.

any more advice before i go ape shit ? lol trying to keep calm

You have the yellow wire connected to the ECU and the white wire connected to the MAP sensor?

the 9 volts was from the ecu by the way.didnt think that was enough voltage but obviously it really didnt matter anyway.

The voltage on that wire is what powers the ECU, it doesn't come out of the ECU. If your only getting 9v on that pin with the ECU plug disconnected, you have another issue somewhere.

quick question ,what happens to the red wire that i have left unconnected that used to go to the ecu ?

and the black one also.do i just cover them over with heatshrink ?

there shouldnt be any wires unconnected dude
they should all go either into the ecu loom or to a power source or earth

if you mean the red and black from the fcd your fcd wont work as you have no volts running through it,
if your not splicing into the ecu with these wires try splicing into the headunit power and earth wires as an alternative power

fixed it guys.i had left the power wire open and the earth.thought the red and black went to the fcd and that was it,didnt realise you had to splice into them.lol

sooooooooooooooooooo grateful for all your help, thanks so much for your time.all repped.
