If you are pushed I think Mr Zisco can offer a similar harness to the Field version. Might make things a lot easier and it's a lot more forgiving if things don't work out.

You should know this by now Jay!!!

On every plug there is a square section on the side you need to prise that out (see below pictures)

Once that is out, you then need to get a pick of some description in where the pin goes into the plug from the other plug (see pictures)
It's hard to describe but there is a tab inside you need to lever across then the wire will just pull out.
After the wire is out, get the other wire to go in and press it in the same way as you took it out (it needs to go back in the same way round other wise it wont lock) press the square back in job done.

Remember don't go at it like a animal. This works for most if not all the plugs on the car.

Female side is easier you can see that part to lever across.

I will make you a harness but it will be next week by the time I can sort it out. Your best off seeing if you can get it working in the short term, see if it works.

dam they really have difrent layout on the small plug

still don't understand why my mines ran all 3 generations a 91 (glow badge) 94 (square lamp) and a 95 quad starlet

Righto, I can see where I fucked up looking at them before lol.. all of this is theoretical and I would prefer someone else doublechecked it for us all but here goes:

Everything on the big plug is exactly the same. The difference is on the smaller plug. They look to have moved the aircon (AC1) to a pin that was vacant on the earlier connector and shifted the boost control (BC) pin down to the pin where it used to be. Then where the BC pin was they added a pin for diagnostic purposes (TE2).

So in theory you can correct the boost reading by swapping the wire leading to pin 15 over to pin 7. Your aircon wire should then head to pin 15 instead of the 12 that it's in now.

That will still leave you the TE2 issue but I'm not 100% what effect that would have. At a guess you might not get full function of the diagnostics but it's hard to predict.

Random bump of the day.

Can any of our more technical gurus tell me if the wire differences could lead to potential problems. As in would a mk2/3 eventually fry a mk1 ECU due to the pinout differences?

Cheers for any feedback,

Jay
