ok, a simple few questions i'm sure youve answered b4, but, anyway...

whats the most boost bhp u can run on a ct9 hybrid??

do u need to upgrade any internals?? at all??

who makes n sells these regularly as i'm broke at the min lol

no need to uprate internals....

and most hp around 200hp, slightly more.....
With the proper supporting mods of course. There were two types available a little while back ct9/ct20 or a ct9/garretT4 I think. The latter one has had some reliabilty issues but seem to be a sweet upgrade when functioning right. I have heard no complaints about the ct9/ct20. The seller of these is not a trader on here though but you can check out daveburwash trading section on this site, I think he has one as well.

that goes with out saying though really ;)

he was on about internal upgrades, which in fact do not need to be changed to run around 200hp......
Oh trust me...I've talk to some younger guys recently who seem to think "all I'll need to do is bolt on this ct12 up the boost and my car will fly" (walked away in utter disgust)

From everything I have read changing the compressor housing on the CT9 to another CT unit is bad pracice and wont see good gains.

A CT9 Garret hybrid is a good turbo, with a bored compressor housing and a larger better flowing compressor wheel.

when you say CT9/CT20 is that basically just the CT9 shell with the CT20 compressor wheel...? little confused with all this hybrid shit to be honest, need to learn a little more about it.......

Correct! Golden star for you.

but how the hell does the CT20 compressor wheel fit in it? its alot bigger by the looks of it.. i have a CT20 turbo and looks much bigger then a CT9?

can you swap over the internals of any turbo to any compressor wheel within reason?

the ct20 can be attached to the ct9 exhaust housing, the gains arent to great when doing this,

with the garrett just the compressor wheel is changed, the ct9 housing is bored out and the garret wheel attached.

the garret one is a hiflow turbo, and the ct20 is a proper hybrid.

why will you not get a big gain concidering the CT20 is much larger then the CT9? is this because it needs a different exhaust housing to get proper gains?

if this is the case why not just get the whole CT20 including exhaust housing and get a mani made up for it.....? that surely would work a hell of alot better?

Or an adaptor plate? Modifying or changing an exhaust side of a Turbo will give far greater gains than playing with the intake sie. Proper bearings need to be used though. What thrust bearings do the CT-9's use?

SXturbo, any turbo with a part from another turbo in it is a hybrid. Whether it is a different wheel or housing.

The turbo company who are making my new turbo strongly advise not to fit a different compressor housing to the CT9 as it causes it to go out of efficency.

The exhaust side is also too small to make use of the larger CT20 compressor housing.

A CT9 with a ct9 exhaust side and a CT20 is going to put massive strain on the thrust bearing when you hit and come off boost and isnt going to last very long at all.

My new Hybrid though ive never seen one made like my new one is going to be :).

because it has been said that the ct20 is an older design of turbo and is not a particuarly efficient turbo because of its age.

it works fine on 2ltr engines as the volume of air is going through it is much greater than a 1.3ltr
