If you want the most from it, get it mapped at 99 RON ;)

Glad to see your considering other factors when comparing the differences. I hate how people only like to compare power figures, when a standalone is about so much more than that!

out and out power isnt my goal. a really useable car with reasonable fuel economy and more or less the best performance possible with the setup you have is the best way.

just interested to see what all the fuss is about, plus you get a cool screen with loads of info and stuff on

i could get it mapped at 99ron but as people have said about the lack of timing being retarded it there is knocking that has put me off, especially as i dont use the car everyday so the fuel is more likely to go a bit stale.
also if mapped at 95 ron itll save me a fortune on petrol. its all good

imo, it would be silly to spend all that money and not get it mapped on tidy high octane fuel. Using 95 octane wouldnt save you much anyway as you go further on higher octane fuel as it has a higher calorific value than 95 octane.

The octane number of fuel isnt everything either there is a lot to the quality of fuel and the additives it contains.

Getting it mapped on 99 ron would be the best bet.

cool didnt realise that. i drove it when it was running at 210 ish and that was impressive, so smooth and lag was very minimal

what people usualy don't like about PFC is the fact that it won't retard timing if knocks occurs (what your standard ECU would do). so you really need to trust your tuner on this one, and be sure you never use lower octane than the one your setup has been maped for.

Exactly! When I had my V tuned, the one of the first things Martyn (EngineTuner) made sure of was that there was no knock... All depends on your tuners knowledge!

I'm a big fan (especially for the price I paid ;)), as my boost curve is MUCH more refined after my RR set-up. At the end of the day, it's each to there own... Some people prefer one product, others prefer another. For example, BLITZ for me over HKS... :p

you get an engine light f you get knock though dont you?

yep :). isn't it great to be informed about it so you know you need to remap instanly ? instead of having ecu retarding without knowing it ?

PFC also has a quick full map edit function that let you correct the full map with a specific % until next restart. that can be usfull if for some reason you need to fill your tank with lower octane that usualy...

hey azerty...or any others.....is it possible to have some other light (apart from the engine check light) hooked up that let's u know when thier is knock detected via the pfc??...maybe like how a shift/alert light operates......i mean most people, especially if driving fast...wont be able to see the check light flashing in time

you will see the check engine red light well.
you might have a way to hook an extended light on the engine check wire. the thing is that enginecheck light doesn't signal knocs only
I guess The best thing would be to buy a dedicated Knocklink and install it on your dashboard.

Aga might be able to give more info thought (he is using fc datalogit that I still need to order)

Different flashes are for different warnings thou...I think 3 engines flashes is knock. And unless you have a gauge or something in the way you can see the engine light flash no problem.

I also monitor knock levels on the commander.
