Jam ECU

paintwork s the thing that crazes me the most when it isnt right. my cars pretty good paint wise but could be alot better, especially the front bumper, its so shitty down the bottom near the splitter!

well i use a jam ecu.....i'm very pleased with it
like newguye said.......we dont have the best of tuners over here.....in fact we have one dyno which has been broken down for as long as i can remember......so most "tuners" here do road tuning-----------now nothing is wrong with road tuning at all,,,,,,when done properly (and in combination with a proper dyno tune)

as far as i'mm concerned we have 3-4 respected tuners here...who can all map emanage, PFC, SAFC, autronic, microtech,, etc based on years of trial and error........and voila,,,most of them charge more that the price of a new emanage ultimate to map any set up........and u still are not guranteed that your engine will survive.........though i have not heard of any major blow ups recently

so the jam to me was a trade off between performace, piece of mind and cost........in fact i'll probably hook up an emanage to it later on, as it has operating benefits over the stock ecu

but again, the jam has shown that it can (like the oem unit) run your premium gas (high octane > 95 ron) as in the UK, ireland, japan.............as well as our (caribbean, malta, etc) crap gas (<90 octane) safely so our engine will last if close to what mods it was mapped for

how many aftermarket ecus do that?........i mean, tune your car on 99 octane,,,,,,,,,and put 90 octane in it.........how long will it last??

now i think if anyone is going for major performance (all out MOST performace)......then preprogrammed ecus are not for them...........get a proper standalone and PAY for a proper tuner and do a proper build on the engine

now after saying that....i agree with 99glanza v........jam, blitz, mines, sard ecus sell for way too much $$$$.........because our demand for them has driven up the price........if we refuse to buy them at these extremely high prices........thye would sell for less......basic economics
i honestly think these preprogramemd ecus are worth about gbp150 - 300 and not a dime more..UNLESSS u have your car tuned by JAM/BLITZ/MINES/SARD themselves to your specific set up (with would make it kind of like a standalone unit)

i noticed significant performance increase in my car as soon as i put in the jam ecu....so for me it was worth it...........but to each thier own

i wont diss preprogramemd ecus......or will i diss standalones or piggybacks..........u just have to know hwat u can afford.............AND if u have someone to tune the ecu/piggyback/standalone u have or want

it makes no sense buying any ecu.....lets say for example microtech.........IF no tuners in your area know how to tune microtech...but only know about emanage.........it would make sense to buy an emanage one time..........hope u get my drift

PS---glad to hear your car is operforming better now dac69er
