I agree. I will have to confirm tomorrow when I whip them out!

Engineers report is in process and I'm hoping to get some recourse from the seller

I just text them again. I'm not naming names until I've given them a few days to sort out a suitable resolution.

I got one response last night. But no further responses.

Tomorrow I will be back down at the garage with my engineer and we will be stripping the block down and checking all tolerances and torque figures, for every single nut and bolt.

I will then be removing the gearbox to be sent away for a rebuild.

And depending on what I find tomorrow, I shall go from there.

I've worked my nuts off today to get everything to a stage to be stripped
Been in contact, no reply.

well thats not right in fairness only doing that will make the situation worse. hope it get sorted

whats the plan off attack then tomorrow did you say?

No problems. I'm in the process of stripping it back to bare block now.

Crank is beyond repair. Not sure on the rods yet

just gt back from builder
apparently its impossible to put a bearing in the wrong way due to the tapered bit
even if you did manage it the engine wont turn over
i dont doubt this guy one bit he builds engines as 2nd job
to me it sounds like your mechanic dont ava clue mate

On big end 1, the bearing has no notch, and was overlapped. I have the bearing in my hand now and there is no notch.

I was there when it was took apart so I have seen it with my own eyes. I wasn't able to get any pictures as I couldn't get my camera in close enough.

There is no way in hell this engine was built right. My engineer has let me be there every step of the way, and has taken it apart infront of me so I can photograph the engine to provide proof

i think you need to get the torques of the engine as it was stripped and then compare those to what they should have been,

if all rods/bearings were damaged it makes it likely that the incorrect torque settings were used when building the engine
