Lets talk splicing abs sensors

As above folks really lol, managed to stretch a rear sensor wire on the Caldina while fitting the coilovers, don't ask fs.
What I'm wanting to know essentially is can you cut and splice a different model sensor in ? Surely as long as the actual sensor nipple that sits in the hub is the same size it should work, as it works of a low voltage signal sent to the abs ecu I'm thinking it should work
Anyone here tried that or have any input about voltage etc

Some later sensors for newer cars may not work as they may be slightly different type?? but most are simply hall effect sensors which are all the same and as long as it fits, it should work fine
