Low temp thermostat question

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a low temp thermostat which opens at around 70degrees. I live in Australia so thought it might be a good idea.

My question is - with the water in the engine been cooled down by an extra 20degrees, would this have much effect on cooling the oil down too?

I would like to keep the water temps as they are around 70 degrees but want to keep the oil temps at the recommended temp around 95 degrees.

cheers

Water temps wont drop by 20 degrees with this stat.

Hey John,

Ive had it in a few days now and it definately down to around 68 degrees when babying it and when I give it the beans rises slightly to around 72 degrees.

I have a decent aftermarket gauge which is has the sensor plumbed in to the rad top hose,

My water gauge also is only sitting a quater of the way up.

cheers

Monitor how much fuel you use, the ecu runs richer if it thinks the engine is not warm. At those temps you may as well took the stat out altogether I think.
