Me and my Glanza V

Hello to all!
Well i just bought myself my first turbo petrol car ever! I have used to drive with diesel engines in the last 5-6years (bmw´s and couple of other marks too) but now i decided to go totally other direction with a cars.. The car itself is Toyota Starlet Glanza V from -97. And man, have to say that i haven't have so much fun for a while.

It was having some modifications from Japan, Im now second owner in Finland, last owner bought this car from import company somewhere between 2012-13 and drove after that only 5000km. Current mileage on the car is about 100 000km right now.

-JAM ECU
-HKS Hi Power Silent exhaust (the last muffler is pretty much out of wool so need to buy a new one)
-Arc intercooler
-GReddy Profec-B Boost controller
-GReddy Boost gauge
-HKS mushroom filter
-HKS Turbotimer
-Some sort of blow off (dont know the manufactuer)
-TRD cluster
-CUSCO rear strut tower bar
-Maybe a better clutch (the clutch was changed couple of years ago in Finland by the import company, but i can´t get the answer from them that what kind of clutch they used :X)

Future plans: Was hoping to get 180-200hp from it someday, just need to get more familiar with this engine first. Was planning to lower the car with BC Racing coilovers, maybe some japan racing wheels too at size 15" and repaint the hood (varnish has been flattened). Also i really need to have better seats someday. The sitting position is just so horrible right now, way too much on the front and cant get it more backwards.

Welcome aboard buddy, glad you are enjoying the EP experience!

Don't worry, Glanza seats are awful so everyone will agree with you. The mods list is quite good already, plenty of JDM items on there which is a good sign.

If you need any guidance just shout.

Thx! Well actually i would need a guidance what to do next to reach that 190-200hp with stock turbo (should be possible?). Im running now between 0.9-1.0bars and still with current setup. I was thinking to upgrade the downpipe to decat model, and maybe some aftermarket exhaust manifold too, should that make any difference/do i feel the difference?

So, my gearbox is gone now. Seems like a bearing problem and i need to get new synchros and bearings to it.. i was also thinking to change the hole gearbox but hard to find any?? (Its c56 right?) Also read that there have been used differend gearboxes aswell in the glanza, but what can handle ~200hp?

Sorry to hear it buddy.

Ideally you either find another box from a Glanza V or GT Turbo and keep boosting or drop the box off to a gearbox specialist and they manage to source the parts required. In the meantime you could fit a weaker gearbox from a non-turbo model. The ratios will make it different to drive but at least they are a cheap option to keep the car moving.

Some updates. Car is up and running again! changes the bearings and syncros from the transmission, and now its working really smoothly again!
