Hi guys, Ive recently bought a '92 ep82 from Derby and it has been keeping me entertained so far but its fairly standard, It has a Blitz Nur Spec R Exhaust system and Blitz induction kit and a shitty baileys dump valve. Engine is also polybushed. The previous owner told me it has a hybrid ct9 but im not so sure myself...I mean it is fast but ive lined it up with a friends completely standard starlet gt and its neck and neck (and trust me its not my driving) I was just wondering where to start with it, not sure what bhp it is at the moment but ide like to get around 200 out of it but dont really want to spend millions. Ide very much appretiate any suggestions in regards to what to do to it and if the car is already known to the forum, cheers!

Do you have a boost gauge mate? If not, get one! At least then you could get a better idea of whats going on. I would go carefully until you know coz if it is on a hybrid and is running more boost, its not gonna hold up for long on standard top-mount and manifold!

I do have a boost gauge, with the green light off in the dash the boost gauge reads .6 and when the green light is on it reads .7 which i find odd because i would assume the green light indicates low boost?

wont be a hybrid with the efi pipe mate
There is a ct9/ct20 hybrid that allows for fitting the EFI pipe. I own one. It was released before the G spec hybrid. Having done a similar "comparision" with another local member it was even with the stock ct9's up to 2nd gear at the same boost levels, but the difference was clear from 3rd gear onwards.

Cheers for the comments guys, Im not actually from derby, i bought the car from there, Im from Manchester myself. So is there no other way of telling wether im running a hybrid or not? :S and hybrid or not what mods should come next? Air filter relocation? FMIC? Fuelling? Exhaust manifold? Coilovers?

Not a bad looking car there! Is it an aftermarket gauge?
You wont be too far from tuning developments, should get on to Nick or Mike and head over there for a chat with them, pretty sure they would be able to tell you what is and isnt on the car and help you decide where you want to go with it?

if you pull off the efi pipe from the turbo inlet you will know if its a hybrid or not... pics below show a standard ct9 and a ct9 hybrid...

very helpful, checked it today, its a standard ct9, dont know wether to be dissapointed that its not a hybrid or happy because I can do what I want with it. How much am I looking at for a hybrid ct9? and a td04?

its not as simple as that mate.. as you up the boost you would have to get supporting mods like a fuel pressure reulator(fpr)... fuel cut defencer (fcd) or a better ecu... id go for an hks adjustable actuator to up the boost a bit.. have fun with the ct9 for awhile and save up a good bit for upgrading... always remember fuel cut on a stock 4efte engine is at .9 of a bar.. hitting fuel cut can damage the engine... live by your boost gauge

yea I know whats neccesary to support the turbo upgrades just dont have any idea of how much i need to spend on the turbo itself. Might just up the boost a little for now and pile up parts in my room until I have everything I want and do it all at once.
