My 'luck' hasn't stopped this month...

Well after my manifold munching my k24, travelling 150 miles to be messed about and calls not answered for a turbo, after shelling out 150 for new tyres blah blah blah....

My car had a brick thrown into the back window last night, for no reason.

Following the usual escape path of little c***s around here I went over a lip of conrete in an industrial estate and ko'ed my new yoko and probably murdered my buddy club wheel.

Luckily I live in a very quiet close and the old folks are vigilant as heck, they were out in seconds of the bang and described him to me, and description matched that of a lad I know who stole a friend of mines motorbike who I had seen earlier that day.

Anyhow I called the police after realising no one now knows where he lives any more as he was beaten up and kicked out of his sisters. They've said I may get a call in the next 5 days and the bricks useless for prints...

Useless springs to mind! Rant over...

Anyhow does anyone know if you can change the rearscreens yourself as I have a mate with a rolling chassis spare.

Cheers!

That's not a good run of luck mate..

The rear screens are bonded in so it's easier to swap a full bootlid on. The screen on it's own will need a specialist to remove and refit unfortunately.

If you have good insurance you may have glass cover which only has a £50 access and doesn't affect your no-claims. Plus they source a new screen and come to you. Would be worth investigating!

Is there no way I can remove it from an existing bootlid and fit it, as I refuse to pay an ungodly price like that and I need it done fairly quickly.

You have to cut the old screen out completely and clean up the surface in preparation for the new screen. The new screen then has to be bonded into place securely. A lot of the problem is what tools and materials to use. Last thing you want is to slam your door and the new screen fall out..

This might seem somewhat dastardly but do you know anyone with an EP91 and glass cover? Undoing twelve bolts, two connectors and two pipes could sort everything lol.

Lol, no. Everyone round here drives lame-mobiles and chavwagonz bruv. Lol.

I wonder if it's worth me giving it a go I could buy my mates rear one and if it removes I could either find a fitting service or find some hardcore shit at work to bond it with.

This comes at a bad financial time for me, got to be a tight bastard. :/

Get a price from National Windscreens, i found them the cheaper, autoglass and the like charge mental money.

I got a quarter window changed and fitted for £130 all in (although you need to buy the window rubbers from toyota, mine was £20)

Also had a freelander windscreen replaced by them for about £140.
