New ep82 owner

Just thought I would say hello. Not long bought an ep82 gt turbo. It’s my second one after owning one many years ago. I am based in Shrewsbury Shropshire. I have had JDM cars for 20 years now from skylines to rx7’s and so on. But I can honestly say the one I missed the most was my ep82. So I sold my fd rx7 and managed to find one. It’s a running driving small project taking it to MOT in a couple of weeks. Normally my small projects turn into 6 year projects but my plan is to actually use this car and not blow a lot of money on it. I would rather buy 2nd good condition parts than spend a lot of money and still get the same result. Anyway hopefully get to know you all. All the best

Welcome to the site Chris, hope it proves useful!

There's a certain spark from a Starlet that you don't seem to get in other cars. Can become an addiction if you're not careful..

welcome aboard...they are nice cars, you just have to be careful, as you can get carried away buying parts just like many of us have :D

Yea having owned a lot of jdm cars I think I was fortunate to be born at a time when you could buy them on a working man’s wage. Not like now which is sad really because it keeps them out of the hands of a lot of true enthusiasts and the vast majority are now seen as assets. I drove all of mine hard lol but I still always said the ep82 I had was my favourite car and luckily enough there still at reasonable money. Although I didn’t realise until I was looking to buy one. How few are for sale and then how many of those were good solid cars. I don’t think the starlets get anywhere near the recognition they deserve which may be a good thing for us as they have flown under the radar abit which has helped with the prices being where they are.

Yea I know I am terrible for it. I always start by saying I won’t do anything just a couple of maintenance jobs I need to do lol and 4 years later I come out the garage lol

Sadly tho the days of cheap parts are long gone so my advice is if you see it cheap buy it, but ask us 1st if it is lol there are still a few good folk amongst us who won't put the arm in :)

Welcome Chris,

You're in good hands with this forum.

I'm not sure I'd have sold an FD3S for a Starlet, but super jealous you had one  That is like my dream car.

I had 2 got them at the right price and right time only good thing about being old lol (38)
My red one and my yellow one I restored . And honestly the starlet is way more fun and easy to repair and own lol

So you sold 2 of them
You Plonker Rodney.......
:)
lol yea sold both I have had a lot of jdm cars probably why I am divorced lol. I had a 32 gtr I sold for 9k that was years and years ago.i am used to selling for a loss I am really good at it lol but honestly I really missed my starlet just great cars and fun to own and drive . Rx7’s are nice cars but horrendous to own and so expensive. I think a lot of people have that one car that they just loved for whatever reason. I really want to just use the starlet and instead of spending a lot of money and going over the top trying to make it perfect and big horsepower you get the 600bhp on a dyno and then you realise the car is useless on anything other than perfect conditions and in a straight line. And your constantly worrying about something going wrong you forget to enjoy it. I am determined to do the starlet on a tight budget buy what I can second hand. And use the thing instead of spending years not using it and having to save up to buy the next thing. I am a truck mechanic so I don’t have the funds to build the car quickly and the years go by and it’s sat in the garage. And I ended up hating the thing and working on it was a burden. And now everything has gone crazy with the price of parts and lads who genuinely love cars get priced out of the market. And a lot are investment cars that stay in a garage. I had a pulsar and I hated the car lol. I bought the starlet at a fraction I could buy an rx7 for and I would rather the starlet out of the two any day.
