you are making some good progress there...one piece at a time
Living room paper stripped during the week too so I'd imagine start painting the ceiling tomorrow, dreading putting new paper and paint up as the rooms massive lol.
Builder put new concrete window sill on the front too as the rebar was rotten and sill was cracked to fuck.
Bathroom extension next.......

Yea bud, multiple layers of paint so have to peel all that off 1st then soak the backing. Normally a cunt of a job but ive got a rather vicious scraper that just peels layers away, uses the long Stanley blades so you get a good strip each time. Rooms 7.5M x 3.5M so it took a while lmfao.
I've got a proper steamer for paper but it's useless on painted paper, works well on printed or patterned paper tho

we don't really use wall paper over here...mostly painted wood and painted or stucco/plastered concrete walls.

so i don't have much knowledge about applying/removing it....hopefully your tools speed up the process for you

Caldina makes a good work horse :) 15 packs of laminate flooring, more underlay than you could shake a stick at and bales off woodchips for the hogs, she was low lol.

do the laminated floor strips "tie/clip" into each other?
and do they go directly unto to the concrete floor or is there a padding/material/glue to be used between the floor and the laminated strips?
how durable do the strips look in your opinion?

just asking some questions as they seems like a viable option versus traditional ceramic/porcelain tiles

Yea bud they clip/lock together. Some brands say use glue some don't, I never had and I've layed a fair few lol. There's an underlay which is just 5mm foam, helps on the concrete floors to keep heat in aswell. That's the green stuff sat on top.
Buy a half decent thick floor to start with, 30£ a pack that was but will last for years and years.
We where in our old house 19 years and I only changed the floor in the living room about 3 years ago lol

thanks for the feedback...i will keep this in mind whenever my floor renovations may arise,,,they seem to tick all the boxes for someone like me :)

i've grown tired of the digging/repaving/dust/cost when replacing blown ceramic tiles.

Paint Paint fucking Paint :( Danielle doing it all but can't move for fear of touching something wet fslool, apparently I'm too messy, suits me fucking hate it, I draw the line at ceilings :)
Waiting over 4 weeks on new bedroom furniture, place went bust yesterday fslool so need a few wardrobes ASAP.
Flooring, FUCK
Lifted the hallway floor last week and found nice varnished floor underneath, walking down the stairs it looked well, closer inspection and about 2 foot from the door is clean rotten with woodworm :( Danielle actually broke a bit stepping on it, the main beam that supports the joists looks like it's fucked also, it only runs the full width of the hall and living room, set in and built round, could replace it with a steel beam but that means knocking a few brick outa the outside wall fslool
Easiest option is go in through it and see what all needs out then replace it with new timber bolted to the block foundations using 5mm steel angle brackets then whatever floorboards need done just use 18mm osb3 plywood sheet.
Have ordered woodworm killer and a spray bottle to treat the whole underneath, I have a cellar under the whole house about 800mm high so access is not a problem, will be fully inspected whilst down there and any action needs taken takne before any other works can start. Price of materials is still high so the extensions have been put of until its a sensible price and we are just going to concentrate on fixing any issues we come across.
Drainage across the front garden needs dug and connected to the main as under the front window just build into a puddle and takes days to drain away, that issue from the house was built in the 70s has probably provided the worms with a nice softish moistish breeding ground in more recent year's. Talking to a few neighbours and that's what they done to solve it.
:)

yeah, with any project its always something to pop up...you seem to have an open mind and a rational way to solve the issues you encounter...keep at it

Yea I can turn my hand to most things luckily enough and I've been in the construction industrie in some form since I was 19 so I've an idea about most things and a rake of mates that do know and will tell or help out :)
You only think car problems are expensive then you see what house bills look like
Fuck lol, yea labour alone is 100£ minimum a day per man, materials are still up, wood is currently around the 50% so that's dropping a bit at least.
The garage work, plus 1 front concrete window sill
Lintils and block and sill and materials 240, labour 2 men 2 days 400
Then if I was having them back to sort the worms its another 2 days labour.
Will likely cost me a couple of hundred in materials and the weekend to do it including the new flooring and skirting etc.

Well that's the materials bought for the weekend :) some change from 150£ so not too bad, was looking a different brand of worm killer but can't get it anywhere, 22£ compared to that at 45£ for basically the same gear fslool

Today was a good day :)
Once I exposed the beam it pretty much fell apart in my hand lol, where it ran against was a nice clean concrete surface so I cleaned it up and fixed new wood to it, the 2nd joist in looked worse than what it was so it got strengthened and an upright brace into the cellar aswell. I added another 2 braces across the gap while I had the chance as the front door/hallway gets the most use so it's built for purpose now :)
Tomorrow will finish the skirting and trim then rip the stair carpet up and mask everything up so Danielle can finish the paint.
That rotten beam runs right through the front of the living room to so I know that's going to be pretty handy too just having a quick look under, that will be done after the stove is fitted because that's a dirty dusty cunt of a job no point ruining a new floor lol, floor will be the last job after paper and painting is done :)

Gas conversion has cut the heating/hot water bill in half, its on the up but will still be cheaper as the oil rises more compared.

Might get near the GT sometime soon lmfao
