Nightmare buy

So long story short I've bought an ep91 that turns out to have a N/A 1.3 that's someone's strapped a ct9 too.Im so far 6k into it and can't really use the cars as it's running near 1 bar of boost and leaking oil.Any suggestions as to what my options are going forward ? What value is the car at currently ? How much can a genuine 4efte be picked up for ?

That doesn't sound good depending on what has been used it may be possible to get your engine built with standard 4efte or forged parts.
Any 4efte is going to be 20 plus years old so finding a good one to just drop in now is rare most want some work.
Very hard to value the car without knowing the full specification and condition of it.

Nasty surprise indeed.

First thing I'd be doing is turning the boost down until you work out what shape it's in. I've found the 4EFE to be reliable enough so long as it's not pushed too heavily.

Oil leaks are common enough on these engines given the age of them. If you can show a few pics of what you are seeing we could maybe point in the right direction.

Alot of people I've spoken to have suggested the best route would be to build the 4e up.Tbh I'm just more pissed about the fact I've bought an import thats not even got the imported motor in it.

Not good bud :(
If you did decide to build it up then you know what you have.
Trying to get another engine is a mission without paying a small fortune 1200/1500 recently on Ebay and no guarantee they wont pop after 10 miles

Tuning developments do a 250bhp build for 2.5k and there's a 4efte block on eBay for 1400 so it's a no brainer really.Plus as previously stated u don't know the history on what your buying.

Was leaking from the rear main but think it's from the boost the the 4efe can't run so been pushing it out.Yeah considering building it but need to get hold of a c52 aswell for it and there going for about £600 now.

Jeez.. those prices o_O

If you are running sensible power the 4efe should take it. Would mean you could build a 4efte in the background then slap it in.

First thing to do is sort that oil leak. The rear oil seal leaks on all 4e engines, boost or no boost it perishes after time.

I've got a mate with a freshly rebuilt 2zz for sale so that's a possible option for a 4efe replacement

I like this idea right here lol. Honestly this is crappy news but if this isn't a daily driver then I would just turn it into a project and either do a cool swap 2zz/4age/ real 4EFTE or just "unboost" it. Seems like you would take a loss selling it as is right now which is always an option.
