Different model years for the most part:

1989-1991 = EP82 Green label two plug ECU for both manual and auto (part number 89661-10040)

1992-1995 = EP82 Black label two plug ECU for manual models (part number 89661-10100)
1992-1995 = EP82 Black label three plug ECU for automatic models (part number 89661-10110)

1996-1999 = EP91 Black label three plug ECU for manual models (part number 89661-10200)
1996-1999 = EP91 Black label three plug ECU for automatic models (part number 89661-10210)

They aren't compatible for swapping between applications due to the connectors/pin outs varying between models.

Few exceptions - an auto Glanza ECU can be used in an automatic GT, also mk1 GT ECU can be swapped with the later manual GT ECU. Pinouts vary slightly but they will start and run.

Excluding the mk1 GT a manual ECU cannot operate an automatic model but the automatic ECU can operate a manual one. (The manual version is missing the electronics that control the fancy transmission modes).

That probably confuses more than it clears lol

nah that helped a lot Jay thankies
So I have a ep91 manual ecu, that good to know but... I have the thermostat housing of a GT... (the dash gauge wire is separate)
how can I tell exactly whether I have a gt engine or glanza engine?

Sump changed design in 1994 for the quadlamp, if its flat it'll be from a mk1 or 2 GT.

Rods changed to the slimmer type somewhere in 1995. Seen one of the last GTs (Dec 1995) with the slimmer type from factory.

Silver timing belt cover indicates mk1.

If you can confirm the engine number that might be an indicator too.
