Oil advice and recommendations here

Castrol don't really do anything suitable and the Millers that are right are too expensive. If it's burning a drop, go for a 15w-50 and in your budget, that leaves the Motul 6100. It's a good oil, but not in the same league as the Pro S.

If you can spare a bit more, the Gulf Competition is as good as the Pro S and a bit cheaper.

Make: Piaggio
Model: NRG
Year: 2006
Engine size/type: 50cc 2-Stroke

Any mods: Aftermarket de-restricted exhaust

Type of use (road/track): Road

Additional info ( current oil used):

Used Comma and Silkolene scoot 2, managed to get more miles out of a tank using the comma stuff (around 80 miles per tank) however the bike didn't sound very smooth at all. Switched over to the Silkolene and the engine sounds very smooth but don't get as good fuel economy (around 60-70 miles per tank). Mainly I want fuel economy as thats what I brought the bike for.

What do you want a recommendation for? Engine, Gearbox etc?

2 Stroke mixer oil

Thanks
Adam

Hi Adam

Not sure why the engine was less efficient with the Scoot 2, it's not a bad 2 stroke. You could try something like the Scoot Sport or Motul Scooter Power which as ester based, so the engine should run a little smoother and also as efficiently as possible.

Hi there.

I have a 96 glanza v with an aftermarket LSD but I've no idea what one it has! Its a daily driven car! Gearbox is starting to grind so want to change the oils but had no idea what to use for the diff as I've read that different diffs need different type oils.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey Tim,

I've just purchased this from your site. "Mobil Super 3000 X1 5W-40 Engine Oil (formerly Mobil Synt S 5W-40) - 5 litres"

Presuming its totally suitable for my engine and spec:

Starlet GT Advance 1995
Standard 4efte engine rebuild 2 years ago.
standard turbo and boost under fuel cut.
Full exhaust, manifold, decat etc..

Cheers, Lewis

Use her quite hard on road, track occasionally. Not sure of oil previously used or running temps atm.. What would you suggest for the first few miles running in etc and for after if different + what gearbox oil? Cheers

Hi

I'd use a cheap 10w-40 at first, just to make sure it's cleaned out. Something like the Fuchs Syn MC is ideal

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-990-fuc...ne-oil-formerly-known-as-fuchs-titan-xtr.aspx

After a 2-500 miles when that has cleaned any muck out of the system, go for a 5w-40

http://www.opieoils.co.uk/c-656-5w-40.aspx

Out of those, the best ones are the Fuchs/Silkolene Pro S, Millers CFS/CFS NT, Motul 300V, Redline and Gulf Competition. The Motul 8100 X-Cess, Millers XFS, Fuchs GT1 XTL/Supersyn, Shell Helix and Mobil Super 3000 are good, cheaper alternatives.

Cheers

Hello Tim,

Do you have any engine oil that has the ZZDP or zinc additive for a fresh motor?

I have browsed through the oils you can supply and i have seen the turbocharged and catalyst convertor friendly oils, but do not have any ZZDP.

I can get the additive separate, but is it a good idea to mix this in with the cat convertor friendly oils?

Is it wise to do this? What do you reccomend/suggest.

Many thanks!
